Imagine going to law school and as a 3L majority of what you've learned as founding principles of our modern legal system was thrown out or severely weakened by SCOTUS?
Like, I'm not going crazy...but this is crazy.
I'm not going to QT the ex-LTC that wrote a novel about his self-imploding his career over the COVID vaccine.
But I will say is that he is a prime example of anti-intellectualism that has crept into the officer corp specifically.
Almost four years to the day, I was vocal on social media about my outrage to the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and a number of other police-involved shootings in 2020.
Some of the replies I'd get from former friends and colleagues were the following:
This tragic situation of a Black airman being gunned down by a cop, after the cop possibly stormed the wrong apartment -- is your must read today.
@TomNovelly
has been with this story from the beginning 👇
If you find yourself, especially the military community, trivializing Juneteenth, you’re in the wrong.
You should be proud to celebrate a day that recognizes the liberation of your fellow countrymen who continue to answer the call voluntarily to this day.
Also…read a book.
You should smile in your command photo. For many younger Soldiers, especially in a large formation, it may be one of the few ways they get to see who you are as a person. If you seem approachable as a leader, people will bring you their issues.
I’m an Army Reservist so I don’t qualify for the full GI Bill. I commissioned later in life. My best bet in student loan forgiveness is getting into JAG.
There are Soldiers, myself included, who benefit from additional lanes of student loan forgiveness.
This student loan lawsuit is personal for me.
I paid for my education in blood, sweat, and tears in service to my nation, as did so many others.
It’s a slap in the face to every working American to be left with the tab for someone else’s Ivy League debt.
Has my cheating, gaslighting ex (yes, ex!) Karli,
@TheNotoriousNDSM
been in your DMs? If you’re enlisted and/or married, the answer is likely!
My personal favorite was when I came up to Michigan to meet her folks for Christmas, she was actively trying to flip a married man!
I am terribly saddened by the loss of Senior Airman Roger Fortson. Only 23 years old. Serving his country.
I pray for peace and justice for his family. I hope that we continue to fight to make sure these tragedies stop happening.
"...why do you care? You're in the Army. This won't happen to you."
"...lol stop virtue signaling you're not going to be victim to police violence b/c you're not like them. You are the cops."
Attempts to make me and other African Americans in the military as the "exception"
I care and speak out, especially when it involves African Americans who take the oath to serve this country where so much blood has been shed and so much wrong has been done, because we deserve better than this.
This could have been me. Our service doesn't shield us from this.
This guy was a battalion commander, rose up to O-5, more than likely had a TS-SCI clearance, and still decides to spread misinformation and say everything is a psyop to get click bait and choose politics over order.
He planned his demise so that he would get his 15 min of fame.
Officers, especially field grade, should have enough of an education and intellectual maturity to be able to think outsides of their own biases, hold a HEALTHY level of skepticism within the institution, but still follow completely legal orders.
Maybe it's a Michigan thing, so I just want ask: do people still care if you drive a non-American car/truck?
I remember the looks I got when my first car was a Toyota. So I switched and got a Ford. Is "Buy American" brand still a thing?
The tattoo is of the USS Zellars, my grandfather’s ship during the Second World War.
I miss him and his war stories. Frankly it is the reason I am still in service to this day. I couldn’t think of a better way to honor him and to get my first tattoo.
Today's political and military climate rewards anti-intellectualism and anti-science rhetoric at the long term expense of our national security and public health for short term political points.
To trust science and medical shots now means to be woke and therein your politics
...and I've run into many other officers, online and in person, that maybe COVID wasn't they would draw the line, but they certainly align with a number of conspiracy theories I would think ought to keep them commanding anyone.
I am so scared to start my applications for JAG.
I got my best grades this semester, but what if its not enough.
If ya'll have been following me the last few years, you know how I am about applications and anxiety.
Asking Military Veterans and
#MilTwitter
for advice:
Is it worth me going Active Duty this far in my career (approaching 7 yrs in USAR) just for student loan forgiveness and full VA benefits?
A Thread…
Finished my Law of Armed Conflict exam!
Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully it is a good enough grade for JAG 🤞🏾😏
I’m definitely keeping the book 📕! It was fun to read.
BIG PERSONAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
I'm proud to announce that I have accepted the position of TROOP COMMANDER for the 2-398TH CAV in the
@USArmyReserve
.
The BN CDR is also a JAG attorney and opens up a great mentorship opportunity and externship for my 3L year.
Win after win!
Come to think of it, it’s been a while since some MilTwitter drama graced my timeline.
I missed us. 🤭
The drama, the dragging, the subtweets, the screenshots, the nuked accounts 🤭🥴
I earned my commission at 25 years old in 2018 through OCS.
My service is completely in the USAR in Civil Affairs and Signal Corp, with stints in the infantry and cavalry.
I've never deployed and chances are I'll never see the line of fire if I go JAG.
Does my service count?
I will not make political tweets on this account.

I will not...🙃

@itsalawson
Yeah it seems like he held those opinions for a while but was looking for a way to exit without making LGBTQ Soldiers his primary grievance.
To me, using military service as a justification for denying others education free from student loans is just a dick move.
The nation as a whole benefits from a more educated and financially stable population.
Making it easier and offering more lanes to forgive debt is good.
So I've decided that I'm going to sit for the Colorado Bar after graduating.
My goal is to go active duty JAG, but there is also a chance that if I get to work in the metro Denver area (which I've loved), be it private or public, I'd be happy to stay in NG/USAR JAG
I get a mental block everytime I apply for an internship, grad program, or any special Army school.
I always think internally about ways to rule myself out. It's happening right now with my JAG application and I struggle with trying to put my best personal statement.
@TLCplMax
Black, queer Captain here! The video is not okay.
I understand the trope of the original post, but this video is still out of line.
I would be reprimanded and possibly hit with an Article 15 if I did this in uniform.
@JackMurphyRGR
It wouldn't bother me as much if it wasn't for the dog whistle racism in some of their tweets and videos. They bring people in who are interested in 2A content, and then do a full 180 online.
Veterans who complain about new benefits for current Soldiers to address a growing recruiting problem are high-key just jealous.
"I had it hard, so you should have it just as bad" is not how you attract a new, diverse generation.
I’m always perplexed at why people who are out of the military care so much about administrative policy changes within the service. Let us have our 12 weeks of parental leave, and you have another beer at your VFW. It’ll be ok.
Wait,
@CNN
is banning their anchors from getting drunk on live TV for NYE???
Anderson Cooper, Andy Cohen, and Don Lemon getting lit have been a New Years' tradition for like 10 years now.
2023 is ruined for me already 🙃
We complain about how there aren’t nearly enough therapists and mental health specialists to help veterans but then make it financially impractical for those who want to close that gap.
Make it make sense to me.
This

The reason I ask is because I'll probably be in the market for a mid-size truck in a few years.
I can't honestly justify the need for even an electric F-150 or Tundra (see
@EzraFBridgers
tweets).
But, I honestly would go either Tacoma or Ranger.
Honestly this was the biggest lesson I learned in Law of Armed Conflict.
We actually spent some time discussing the late-Senator’s advocacy against torture of POWs at GITMO and black sites.
From a military/natsec eyes: I get the TikTok ban. It should have been done a long time ago.
But Congress, both parties, fumbled the ball in being as transparent as possible about why they needed to take action as well as add long overdue Social Media regulations.
So I’ve been going my back and forth about whether I want to go active duty if I’m selected for JAG or stay in the USAR and build a civilian legal career as a prosecutor.
The biggest things for me are student loan forgiveness and being able to get full VA access.
I start every D-Day anniversary watching Band of Brothers.
One episode a night. It’s a tradition I’ve loved. And an important reminder of the sacrifice made by Allied Forces on the night of nights.
Respectfully, I disagree. We cannot surrender Old Glory to being synonymous with the confederate banner.
I celebrate Juneteenth and the Fourth with pride but with full acknowledgment that the liberties I'm able to partake in weren't available for my ancestors in 1776.

Selling or donating all of my physical books that weren't signed by the author was my spring cleaning this year!
Getting a Kindle instead! Let's see if I like it!
BREAKING: Army Pvt. Travis King is in US custody after being released from North Korea, a US official tells
@Kevinliptakcnn
. King crossed the demarcation line into North Korea roughly two months ago.
So for those that have been following me since 21 April, I wanted to give you an update regarding my mental health!
I'm doing better day by day. My chain of command has been amazingly supportive and I'm working on networking with the VA to get resources.
This is honestly motivation for me to stick to going for JAG.
I know I post a lot about my frustrations with military justice, but hopefully I can help in being part of the change
The Army hit the ground running handling sex abuse cases outside the chain of command. Stood up in Dec, they already have one major conviction and handling hundreds of cases.
Come to Offutt. You will see uniformed Airmen with professionally trimmed beards.
Idk why this is such a difficult thing for top brass to let go.
#FreeTheBeard
We as a military can’t ask for beards and then get upset when people have them for legitimate reasons.
We cannot in one breath say that beards are reserved for our most professional fighting elites, members of USASOC, and then in the second breath say they are unprofessional.
Being a JAG at a high speed unit like the 75th is extremely appealing (of course that depends on my fitness and the availability of slots).
But there is also the desire to settle down and build my own income in the public or private sector.
There’s a feeling that I’m not…
If you're going to base a movie on a hypothetical second civil war, at least get the geographic and cultural politics right.
In what world do you think California and Texas are on the same side? Be serious right now.
Alright, I've decided: I'm getting a sleeve tattoo. It will be tasteful and have meaning. Haven't decided on the design but it will mostly be patriotic and a little bit of reference to my grandfather's USS Zellars ship.
