Radical religious extremists launched a violent attack on the Sabyasachi Publications stall at Bangla Academy’s Amar Ekushey Book Fair, targeting it for displaying books by internationally acclaimed secular and feminist author Taslima Nasreen (@taslimanasreen). The stall was vandalized, the publisher was assaulted, and operations were forcibly shut down—all under the watch of Yunus’ administration, which stood by and did nothing. For two days, extremists openly incited violence and death threats on social media, calling for the stall’s destruction accusing it of “promoting atheism.” Despite prior warnings and threats, the authorities failed to take any preventive action, allowing the attack to occur without obstruction. Instead of ensuring security, Yunus’ administration detained publisher Shatabdi Vobo today while the extremists remain unpunished- proving once again that it sides with fundamentalists rather than protecting free thought and expression. This marks a dark chapter in #Bangladesh’s history—never before has a book fair stall been attacked and shut down in such a blatant act of censorship and religious extremism. The illegal, fascist @Yunus_Centre government’s encouragement of extremists forces is dragging the country toward a repressive, fundamentalist state, crushing the secular and progressive values that Bangladesh was built upon. I strongly condemn this assault on freedom of expression and the government’s active role in enabling extremist terror. #BangladeshCrisis #StepDownYunus #RestoreDemocracy #ReclaimBangladesh #YunusMustGo . . . @hrw @BBCWorld @AgnesCallard @HRF @StateDRL @DRL_AS @ESandersFCDO @AP @FCDOHumanRights @guardian @MAarafat71 @RFKHumanRights @kajakallas @AFP @eu_eeas @EURightsAgency @HumanRightsCtte @SecRubio @State_SCA @MEAIndia @WSJ @DavidLammy @Chellaney @FCDOGovUK @GERonSouthAsia @fidh_en @forum_asia @omctorg @FreefromTorture @CJBdingo25 @DerekJGrossman @Ginitastar @dwnews @UNHumanRights @OHCHRAsia @UtsavSanduja @IHRF_English @UN_HRC @VOABANGLA @bslBD1971

Another day, another way the Yunus administration violates Human Rights Once again, the streets of #Shahbagh became a battleground as police unleashed brutal force on peacefully protesting primary school assistant teachers. Baton charges, water cannons, tear gas, and sound grenades were used against educators demanding their rightful appointments. Even female teachers carrying infants were not spared—many were thrown off balance by the sheer force of the water cannons. This inhumane repression proves that the illegal interim government has utter disregard for teachers and educational institutions. Just days ago, we witnessed a similarly brutal attack on Ebtedayee Madrasa teachers, leaving many injured. Today, the repression on women and teachers continues. Teachers are the beacons of society. Yet, in today’s Bangladesh, their dignity is confined to mere poetry, while in reality, they endure professional insecurity, state oppression, and systematic devaluation. The country’s education, culture, politics, and economy are being systematically dismantled by the #Yunus regime. It is time to rise against this fascist tyranny before it is too late.

The illegal Interim Government in #Bangladesh has launched a brutal and unconstitutional crackdown on political opponents under the guise of “Operation Devil Hunt.” In just 24 hours, 1,308 Awami League leaders, activists, and supporters have been arbitrarily arrested—without due process, without specific charges, and solely for their political beliefs. This is a systematic political witch hunt, aimed at dehumanizing, silencing, and criminalizing those associated with the Awami League. The use of armed forces to suppress political dissent is nothing less than state-sponsored persecution. Such authoritarian repression cannot and must not be tolerated. The international community must not remain silent as Bangladesh plunges into tyranny. The mass arrests must be halted immediately, and all those detained on political grounds must be unconditionally released. Freedom of expression and political association are fundamental democratic rights—this unlawful crackdown is an outright assault on both. #StepDownYunus #RestoreDemocracy #ReclaimBangladesh #YunusMustGo . . @hrw @BBCWorld @AgnesCallard @HRF @StateDRL @DRL_AS @ESandersFCDO @AP @FCDOHumanRights @guardian @RFKHumanRights @kajakallas @AFP @eu_eeas @EURightsAgency @HumanRightsCtte @SecRubio @State_SCA @MEAIndia @WSJ @DavidLammy @Chellaney @FCDOGovUK @GERonSouthAsia @fidh_en @forum_asia @omctorg @FreefromTorture @CJBdingo25 @DerekJGrossman @Ginitastar @dwnews @UNHumanRights @OHCHRAsia @UtsavSanduja @IHRF_English @UN_HRC @VOABANGLA @bslBD1971

On February 5, under the direct protection of Yunus’s regime, anti-independence forces orchestrated a coordinated assault on #Bangladesh’s national heritage. The attack began at the Bangabandhu Museum at Dhanmondi-32—the birthplace of the nation’s independence —before spreading to hundreds of sites linked to the Liberation War. This was nothing but a premeditated act of state-sponsored terrorism aimed at erasing Bangladesh’s founding legacy in pursuit of Yunus’s “reset button” agenda. Jamaat-backed mobs were given free rein to storm, vandalize, set fire to, and bulldoze the home of Bangladesh’s founding father—while police and military forces stood idly by, doing nothing. The silence of security forces reveals the regime’s active complicity in this calculated destruction. As historic sites burned, #Yunus and his cronies celebrated the mayhem. His advisor, Asif Mahmud, shamelessly posted “Let’s celebrate today” in the aftermath of the attack—proving that this was orchestrated at the highest levels of the regime. Meanwhile, his close associate, #SAD-convener Hasnat Abdullah, openly incited the destruction of Dhanmondi-32 in a Facebook post, further exposing the regime’s role in this violent assault on the nation’s history. In a brazen display of political deception, Yunus’s official statement attempts to shift blame for this meticulously planned destruction onto Awami League, all while protecting and indemnifying the actual perpetrators. This shameless whitewashing of state-sponsored terrorism is a desperate attempt to destroy national history and justify these horrific crimes. This is radicalism, mob rule, and fascism at its worst. Those responsible for this orchestrated violence must be held accountable. Corrupt, fascist dictator Yunus must answer for his crimes. The world is watching. #YunusMustAnswer #StateSponsoredTerrorism #BangladeshCrisis #Dhanmondi32

The @Yunus_Centre -led administration has consistently failed to protect Bangladesh’s religious minorities, with at least 2,184 communal attacks reported against Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, Ahmadiyyas, and Sufis as of December 31, 2024. The brutal killings of 32 members of these communities, along with the sexual assault of 13 minority women, serve as glaring testimonies to the government’s gross negligence and blatant bigotry. From systemic discrimination against minorities across various sectors to enabling brutal attacks on peaceful protesters from the indigenous communities, the government’s willful disregard and inaction over the past six months reveal its priorities: shielding its Islamist allies while leaving minority communities vulnerable to relentless violence and injustice. This state-sponsored discrimination must end now. Yunus and his cronies have betrayed the people- he must step down immediately. #BangladeshCrisis #ProtectMinorityRights #StepDownYunus #YunusMustGo

@ChiefAdviserGoB @Yunus_Centre shamelessly claims that Bangladesh’s media enjoys “unprecedented freedom.” But in reality, journalists face nothing but unprecedented repression. False charges, arbitrary arrests, denial of bail, job losses, financial harassment, and even the forcible takeover of media houses—this is the grim reality for independent media right now. International organizations like @CPJAsia, @RSF_inter, @IFJGlobal, and @CFWIJ have well-documented these attacks on press freedom. The only voices allowed to speak are those praising the illegal regime. The only “unprecedented freedom” in Bangladesh is Yunus & Co.’s absolute freedom to lie with zero accountability. . . . #BangladeshCrisis #PressFreedom #StepDownYunus #YunusMustGo #WeResist

Just Another Day in Muhammad Yunus’ New Bangladesh: Extremists in Charge On January 28, two women’s football matches were cancelled in Dinajpur and Joypurhat districts of northern Bangladesh after Islamist hardliners vandalized and forced organisers to call off the events, claiming that women playing football is “anti-Islamic.” This is just another day in Yunus’ “New Bangladesh,” where extremists dictate what women can and cannot do, and the government watches in silence. Instead of defending women’s rights, the illegal #Yunus administration has chosen to appease radical forces, giving them free rein to disrupt and shut down public events—whether it’s music concerts, dance festivals, sports tournaments, or theatres. The growing influence of Jamaat-Shibir-backed mobs is a direct result of Yunus’ policy of appeasement, which is fueling the flames of extremism at the cost of progress. If this trend continues, it won’t stop just at football—women’s education, careers, and basic freedoms will be next. The question is, how much longer will the people of Bangladesh tolerate before they push back? #BangladeshCrisis #StepDownYunus

The fight against injustice, state-sponsored oppression and tyranny cannot be silenced by batons, bullets or fear. We will not stand idly by as teachers, workers, indigenous communities, and minorities are attacked for demanding their rights. We refuse to bow to the illegal #Yunus regime’s oppression. The voices of the oppressed will grow louder, the courage of the people will grow stronger, and the chains of tyranny will break. Stand for freedom. Fight for justice. This is the beginning of our resistance. #ResistOppression
