I'm a big believer in grace and second chances, especially for kids, especially for dumb social media posts. Did I miss the apology from the 26 year-old in question? Has anyone asked him whether he regrets the views he expressed two months ago? Does he still call himself a "racist"? Does he no longer think we should "normalize Indian hate"? And why does it disgust you that a Member of Congress merely asked if a White House official would apologize for such a comment before getting re-hired? Again, you are free to hire anyone you'd like. But when you hire or re-hire an adult who declares himself a racist and hasn't yet corrected or apologized for those views, the rest of us are free to disagree and criticize that decision. You can deliver all the hysterical tirades about emotional blackmail that you want, but if you think hiring unrepentant racists is a good thing, just say it!
