Joseph Wheelwright carved natural materials such as branches, roots, and stones. He’s best known for carving large boulders into human forms. My friend Amy has one in her yard. With what it weighs she doesn’t have to worry about anyone walking off with it! Hauntingly beautiful!

Tiger is a no-go this week.
I planned to tee it up this week, but I’m just not ready. I did my best to prepare, knowing it’s what my Mom would have wanted, but I’m still processing her loss. Thanks to everyone who has reached out. I hope to be at Torrey later in the week and appreciate the continued kindness since my Mom’s passing.

Charles River Country Club, in Newton Centre, Mass., has been selected by the @USGA as the host site of the 2031 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur. The 69th edition of the championship is scheduled for Sept. 6-11, 2031, and will be the second USGA championship held at the club.

I covered Rory McIlroy’s 1st PGA Tour win at Quail Hollow in 2010 when he shot 62 on Sunday at age 20. Since then I’ve felt with his A-game he’s best in golf. His problem, IMO, is winning with his B-game or less. Instead of struggling through adversity he gets down on himself.

It wasn’t the sponsor that reneged, it was the tournament underwriter, a company that takes on the financial risk of the tournament in exchange for a fee.
@ronsirak Mr. Sirak, was the recent default of a sponsor simply that the sponsor is in financial trouble?

Liz Moore is the interim commissioner. There has been at least one other interim LPGA commissioner and I’m guessing in other sports as well.
