Lewis was on expansive, wistful, emotional and wonderful form this week. I had the honour of hosting and moderating his final farewell chat at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. We spoke for about 90 minutes, about anything and everything. He was open, honest and we all felt a lot of respect, love, appreciation and affection for him. Lewis is also very funny, he made good-natured fun of me again, as ever, and it was a real privilege to have spent so much time talking on his last trip here at the end of an incredible era. He spoke with about 200 of us, and answered every question from my colleagues too. It was a really lovely way to say “tchuess” to our superstar. I’ve been a fan of his for years, and will continue to be so when Lewis is racing in red from next year. Thank you, Lewis.

This November I’m proud to be wearing a beautiful remembrance poppy, handcrafted by an artist and veteran, Jack Taylor. It’s a pin with leather petals and an obsidian centre pistil. I’m just back from a lovely couple of hours learning the difference between effortless driving talent and, er, my effortful flailing. Kimi was wonderfully chatty and friendly - it was a real treat to meet him. And to be in [a very distant] second place. 🥈🤣🤔

👋 A lovely memory from the Tour d’Elegance at the recent Monterey Car Week in California. It was great fun waving to the many folks lining the Pacific Coast Highway as we headed the parade of amazing cars. My thanks to Dimitris for inviting me to be his co-driver - it was great fun, and bonkers to see all the incredible cars snaking into the distance in the mirror. Being chased all the way by the 1924 Mercedes Targa Florio car was a real treat.

What a treat to meet Dominic Chianese, better-known as Corrado “Junior” Soprano. He told tales of his remarkable long life; entertained us with songs and music, and happily posed for photos with excitable fans. “Hello, young man”, he said. He’s sharp as a tack and was charming. Thank you, sir.

Martin Hayes was one of my very first mentors in this business. We’d go for lunches at the Pizza Express in Dean Street, London. Martin recommended the ‘American’ with a soft egg in the middle. It became a favourite for years. Countless chats and lots of advice followed. This was often in the form of encouragement to do things a little better. I take that mantra with me. As time and things moved on, it was always good to hear from Martin, to go for lunches or, more recently, via phone. Martin’s professionalism and enthusiasm and generosity is something I’ve never forgotten, and attempt to emulate. Martin was a proper pro and like so many others here, I’ll fondly remember him and how decent and kind he was. His death leaves a big gap in the PR industry. Today we celebrated the life and work of Sir Stirling Moss, OBE. A magnificent service at Westminster Abbey, remembering one of the all-time greats.

A wonderful way to remember Sir Stirling:

On top of the Wald, Ma! Some amazing demonstrations of what a G-Class can do, even with me driving. What a treat to clamber up and then run down the track.

We’ve got a 2024 model update at work. After many successful years in the global PR team, my excellent colleague Koert Groeneveld (pictured on the right) has moved into a new leading role in strategic product management. I know he’ll be brilliant in his new position. I’ll certainly miss working with him. Joining us from today, as our new Head of Product Communications is a proper product expert, Michael Christof (on the left of my photo). Michael has years of experience under his wheels, and is an expert in our products and what they can do. I’m really glad he’s joined us. I wish them both every success in their new jobs. If you’re a journalist I’m hope you’ll get to meet up with Michael at an event or show at some time.

I’ve enjoyed a wonderful experience with @HughFW and his @rivercottage team. Learned lots about delicious food, made some, and ate a lot of it. What a treat to spend a day with a culinary campaigning champion. It’s 25 years since the first series aired, and my hasn’t that time flown. My thanks to Hugh, Connor, Katie and the team for being such excellent hosts.
