in 1935: 85 years ago today John Cobb set the ultimate outer circuit lap record at Brooklands in the Napier-Railton, he lapped the Circuit in just 69 seconds, setting a never-to-be-beaten average of 143.44mph.

Today is the anniversary of the 1940 Air Raid on Brooklands.
The Vickers aircraft factory at Brooklands was bombed, claiming the lives of 88 people & injuring over 400. Today, we remember those who lost their lives.

Brooklands celebrates its birthday today!
It was on this day in 1907 that the track was opened by Ethel and Hugh Locke King. Over a century later, the spirit lives on through the people of Brooklands and in the cars, motorcycles and aircraft on display at the Museum.

Just like the 1926 Grand Prix, the French Delage team dominated the race, taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

in 2003: On the 26th November 2003 the final airworthy Concorde made its final flight, from Heathrow to Filton. At the controls were Captain Mike Bannister and Les Brodie. These photos are by Captain Mike Bannister from inside Concorde's cockpit on this final flight.

This Pathé Archive video was taken 98 years ago

. It features the JCC 200-Mile Race on 19 August 1922, won by K.L. Guinness.
The footage really captures the speeds at which they raced on the Brooklands banking and the incredible views spectators would have had.

in 1946 the Aerodrome and Track was sold to Vickers-Armstrongs Ltd for £330,000 - they purchased the site to design and build a range of civil & military aircraft.
The site had been badly damaged during the second world war, and could no longer be used for racing.

We are very saddened to hear the passing of Tony Brooks, a racing legend and pioneer of the 1950s. He will be remembered as one of the greatest racing drivers and good friend of Brooklands - we were hugely honoured that Tony joined us at last year's Stirling Moss Celebration.

Is Brooklands the most haunted race track in Britain? Some say the ghost of record-breaking racing driver Percy Lambert still drives around the track on Halloween. It was on this day that he tragically lost his life in 1913 aged 32 whilst attempting to regain his speed record.
