This morning the Department of Homeland Security announced the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Safety and Security Board. The 22 inaugural members include Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, Jensen Huang, Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai and many others.

Finished @emollick’s ‘Co-Intelligence’ and found it well worth reading, not least for final chapter on four scenarios for near future of gen AI. Interesting insights on why LLMs not likely to plateau that soon, as some predict.

Of the major labs, Meta seems to have the most public pessimists about future rapid improvements. OpenAI and Anthropic seem most optimistic team members. Google and Microsoft people seem quite mixed overall. Everyone has incentives to posture, but we will learn a lot more soon.
