@jasonbhood Yeah, Utd were terrible again. I'm positive on Amorim's cultural reset, but I'm ambivalent about his footballing philosophy, thus far. Could be van Gaal all over again. I hope not.

@zugzwanged I agree with all of this. The original post imposes a view of older, less malleable adult maturity on young men that is simply false.

@CatherineProj update: Mr. Harding invokes God/divine evaluation numerous times in the second half of the novel, which is particularly striking since the other major characters focus exclusively on the horizontal, social plane. The ending is beautiful. Discussion was excellent.
Reading Trollope with @CatherineProj this spring for fun whilst on sabbatical. About halfway through *The Warden*—very funny. But surprising how godless the story is with two priests as major characters. Closest we get to anything like prayer is Eleanor’s blessing of Mr. Bold.

@jaycaspiankang You're right; they can't afford it. But if they could, bringing top talent into a toxic environment only degrades the talent. The Sancho tragedy on repeat. I see this as a rebuild on the order of Ferguson's early seasons. Gonna be painful for several years, at least.

@jaycaspiankang I'm ambivalent about Amorim and his system; I'm behind his cultural reset. It doesn't matter how much talent you have if the players won't train for play. I don't blame Rashford for this; it's not his fault the club has been a mess. I don't blame him for forcing his way out.
