@nicycle
I am chronically confused by people who make signs informing you what they don't want you to do rather than just, you know, altering the built environment so the thing they don't want doesn't happen.
I'm riding my bike from International Falls MN to Tower MN on Monday. I expect it it be between -20° and -5° F. I hope to finish before sunrise on Tuesday if luck is on my side.

Once a tourist in downtown asked me where they could get a phone charger because the target was closed. "I mean, what kind of Target closes at 6?" they asked.
I have never lived down the shame.
TIL Midway St Paul is literally named that because you're "midway" from one downtown to the other.
St Paul is truly doing the most to keep itself boring.
@constans
@conorsen
Imagine a walkable/ bike able suburb with light rail to the nearest big city downtown. But like you'd be able to get to nearby parks, school, restaurants/ bars with active transit. I think my fellow 30 somethings would like that. Driving sucks
@violanorth
-targeting POC businesses
-burning Minneapolis’ staple cultural centers
-leaving coors light everywhere
I don’t know what more proof they need.
For a moment I was like, ok Bob Kroll is gonna hide behind his normal friends. But never have I felt more "get the fuck out of my city" than when Sgt. Anna Hedberg talks about the dangers of grocery shopping in Minneapolis with her "two beautiful little girls."
Just waved goodbye to a car I bought 6 years ago for $1200 that hasn't run in a year. Got handed a $400 check. So I rented a car for $800 for 5 years?
Make it make sense.
I have sat through entirely too many public meetings but my favorite moment is still when the public works staff had to explain how people could bike "literally on any street that wasn't posted as a highway*" to a city council member.

To everyone complaining about the lines at the convention center I want to remind you that it doesn't have to be like this.
We could have testing sites at every Walgreens, at every Holiday.
Healthcare is a human right and our response to COVID-19 is a policy failure.
Riding by myself I’m always at least a little afraid.
Of being hit by a driver who leaves me to die.
Of being harassed or assaulted.
While we’re all going solo, think about how abundantly more shitty it is to be a rider who’s black or trans or female out on the roads alone.
I've been seeing my therapist for a year and a half and none of that would have been possible if
1) I didn't make over $45k a year
2) I wasn't salaried/worked 9-5
3) I couldn't "work from home"
Asked my credit union if I could get an auto loan for a new bike. No.
Asked if I could get an auto loan for a new car and just spend it on a new bike. They did not chuckle.
MAK saying she supports protected bike lanes but not transit priority is why we say Bike Lanes Are White Lanes.
We are designing racism into our built environment.
Cancer sucks. It just fucking sucks.
One friend just finished their last round of chemo while another made the decision to not seek more treatment and left us yesterday.
Nothing about it is fair.
I don't have anything uplifting to say, just be kind to each other.
Highlight of SLP council meeting was when their transpo engineer explained that bikers have the legal right to take the lane "even down Minnetonka Boulevard" to gasps from the dais.
@_AudreyKennedy
Get used to it. The biking and developer groups are now talking about pushing for single side parking year round to discourage automobiles.
OTG at 9:38am:
"At least a hundred cops have blocked off roughly Cedar to 13th on the Greenway to clear an encampment. Based on what I saw, this was well planned out but kept secret."
At this time there are no reporters visibly on the ground.
The owner of my company will tell my peers I'm the best at what I do and they should be like me while I have the national suicide hotline number taped to my monitor.
The recklessness and callous disregard for residents in our city last night put a damper on a weekend that should otherwise be celebrated. This conduct should not be acceptable in any city — and let me be clear, it won’t be tolerated here.
