Thank you, @VanJones68, for reminding us all of our essential obligation as human beings…and that what we say, and do, or our failure to act, all matters. You are a true voice of conscience.
I am at Auschwitz, 80 years to the date after the Soviets liberated this death camp from the Nazis. I don’t have words. Imagine a factory for murdering people. I remember the 3,000 Americans whom Al-Qaeda slaughtered on 9-11. We still have not truly recovered as a nation. Imagine being here at this horrid place, where Germans murdered 6,000 (!!) human beings (mostly Jews) a day. Every day. That’s TWO 9-11’s a day (!!), every day, for years — until the number reached 1.1M murdered here. Mass, industrial murder. It’s inconceivable. I think every human being who can should make a pilgrimage to this place. This is what I have learned here. Ideas matter. Words have consequences. Hate is nothing to play with. Scapegoating groups is nothing to play with. Nazi salutes are nothing to play with. Hate and blame can get out of control— just like the fires in LA — and burn down the whole world.

Enough!
The professor of this class, Avi Shilon, is an Israeli historian and Mizrahi Jew whose family moved to Israel from Baghdad. He tried speaking with the protesters in Arabic and - in a surprise to nobody - they didn’t understand. He then invited them to join the class and learn something about the topic they scream about and they responded by shouting “genocide.” The mob is equal parts ignorance and bigotry. It’s time for people to stand up to these pathetic fools.

Goodness that knows no bounds. Exactly the jolt of inspiration and support our frontline campus leaders need.
What a pleasure to speak and perform at the @HillelIntl conference last night and recognize all the Hillel directors who have been fighting the good fight on their campuses. 🇺🇸🇮🇱

This is what an inversion of justice looks like. And it is “criminal.”
AJC is appalled by the decision of the ICC to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. This reckless, irresponsible decision is a gross distortion of international law that harms the Court’s credibility, completely undermines its core mandate, and emboldens enemies of democracy around the world. This decision is a boon to Israel’s enemies and the enemies of international law and justice. It castigates democratic Israel – which has consistently affirmed its commitment to abide by its international obligations while fighting terrorists – while rewarding regimes like Iran that fuel terrorism around the world and distort the law for their malign ends. We call on all governments to immediately reject this erroneous decision and affirm that they will not enforce the warrants issued by the ICC in this case. Read our full statement:

Proud of my organization. This is also a time for genuine leadership.
At a time of historic levels of antisemitism, we need someone at the helm of the Department of Justice who will tackle antisemitism — not peddle in it. Matt Gaetz’s history of problematic remarks — including perpetuating antisemitic conspiracy theories — should be disqualifying for anyone seeking to be America’s top law enforcement officer. We urge President-elect Trump to reconsider this nomination, otherwise the Senate has a responsibility to reject it.

This is what a modern day pogrom looks like. Horrific and unacceptable in civilized society.
We are horrified by footage coming out of Amsterdam that shows masked assailants brutally attacking Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer fans. We urge the Dutch government to immediately act to ensure the safety of the fans and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The @latimes is a shell of its former self. An abomination and embarrassment. What so many in our community have known for years, but especially since last October 7, is now apparent to all. Our world class city deserves better.
This is not a vote for Donald Trump. This is a refusal to ENDORSE a candidate that is overseeing a war on children. I’m proud of the LA Times’ decision just as I am certain there is no such thing as children of darkness. There is no such thing as human animals.

Amen. 🙏
Yahya Sinwar, the head of Hamas and mastermind behind the October 7 massacre that claimed over 1,200 lives, was eliminated in an IDF operation in Gaza. It is now confirmed that the six hostages who were executed in August were human shields for Sinwar. For decades, Sinwar orchestrated terror and was responsible for the murder of thousands. His reign of terror in the Middle East has finally come to an end. We pray that this critical development will lead to the return of the remaining hostages.

Wrapped in grief, our hearts are broken for the families of Carmel Gat, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Eden Yerushalmi, Almog Sarusi, Alex Lobanov and Ori Danino. They were stolen, held in brutal conditions and murdered, most likely in the last few days by Hamas terrorists in a tunnel beneath the southern Gaza city of Rafah. For 330 days, their families fought tirelessly for their release, holding onto hope for a reunion with their loved ones. There are now 101 hostages still in Gaza. Everyone with a voice, from individuals to nations, must urgently insist on a deal to #BringThemHomeNow.

A tragic update: Last December, #AJCLA had the privilege of hosting Itay Raviv as he was advocating for the release of his great uncle, Avraham Munder, who was taken hostage from Kibbutz Nir Oz on 10/7. Yesterday, the IDF recovered Avraham’s body from a tunnel in Gaza, along with the bodies of five other hostages. We extend our deepest condolences to Itay and the Munder family for their painful loss under such barbaric circumstances. May Avraham’s memory forever be a blessing.
