This week we celebrate 2 LA leaders … both immigrants. @adrin_nazarian, an Iranian immigrant, sworn into the LA City Council, and Martin Estrada, a Guatemalan immigrant, ending his tenure leading the @USAO_LosAngeles. To quote “Hamilton” … “immigrants. [they] get the job done.”

As Joe Biden would say, “this is a big f#*king deal.” The UC system has effectively entered into a federal consent decree to ensure it better protects Jewish and Israeli students throughout the UC system.
Today @edcivilrights announced a resolution of complaints alleging shared ancestry discrimination by five campuses in the @UofCalifornia system. Read more:

Thanks to @AlexNBCLA for covering this important story. @ADLCalifornia will now work to ensure that CA DMV does what it says and improves its internal procedures to make sure this never happens an again.
“We wouldn’t permit this if the license plate said ‘LOL911.’” ADL Los Angeles Regional Director @jeffreyabrams speaks with @nbcla about an offensive license plate discovered in Culver City mocking the deadly attack on Israel on Oct. 7 perpetrated by Hamas.

@ADL is proud to be an official reporting partner for the latest LA County Hate Crime report. Thank you to our county leaders for your steadfast support in combatting the root causes of hate and ensuring justice for victims of hate crimes and hate incidents.
The latest report from @CountyofLA paints a dark picture of the way hate crimes have become normalized in Los Angeles County. Hate crimes targeting Jews skyrocketed by 91% from the previous year. Read @ADL's full assessment here:

Painful to see a 91% increase in hate crimes targeting the Jewish community in 2023. Working together with government, law enforcement and communal partners to improve reporting is critical to ensuring we can resource to the growing threat of hatred and antisemitism.
We are thankful to have strong partners in the fight against hate with @CountyofLA. As ADL LA Regional Director @JeffreyAbrams said in his remarks, the best way to combat hate is to stand together as one, united community. Read the report here:

This is a good first step, and we now must expect @UCLA to continue to enforce its rules and regulations and restore safety and security to its historic Westwood campus.
ADL Los Angeles acknowledges @UCLA’s improved approach to addressing unpermitted structures on campus in the name of “protest.” Read more here:
