It’s ridiculous that women are being told to call 999 to check if the person in front of them is a police officer.
Couzens WAS a police officer. Even if Sarah Everard had called 999, what would have happened differently? She would have been told that yes, Couzens is an officer.
This nonsense needs shutting down immediately. This is not an MP, he shouldn’t be representing himself as such, and he shouldn’t be claiming to have constituents.
Spoke today with a constituent struggling to get her disabled son into mainstream primary education. People are still facing the same difficulties my parents faced 30 years ago. Every child has the right to equal provision and should not be shunned away. Our team are on the case.
Also, absolutely ridiculous statement from Zoe Billingham on BBC Breakfast just now, claiming that there’s no way that a police officer would stop someone from making a phone call if they’re in the process of arresting them, legitimately or otherwise.
Especially if they’re not legitimately arresting someone, does she really think that the person being fraudulently arrested is going to be allowed to make a phone call?!
Utterly meaningless suggestion.
Also, one that would inevitably lead to yet more victim blaming.
“Well why didn’t she call to check? She could have just called to check. She could have resisted. She could have run away.” ignoring that none of those are even remotely possible in that circumstance.
Fuck you, WashPo. Fuck you. This person hadn’t even received the jab, they had the placebo - and then died of COVID.
You *know* vaccine denialism is an enormous problem, especially with any potential COVID vaccine. This headline is so grossly immoral. Fuck you.
New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says she's confident the country has halted the spread of the coronavirus after the last known infected person in the country recovered. It has been 17 days since the last new case was reported there.
Just a note - if you’re gonna reply with “but if she HAD called…” bullshit, how about you don’t? Your opinion is naive and victim blaming, and it’s not wanted.
For fuck’s sake, the BBC are bringing back the post-COVID evidence-free scare story about “needle spiking” again.
There is literally *zero* evidence that it has ever happened! Even in this instance!
@BatarianHermit
Yeah, that tweet made me mad with how uninformed it is.
We actually need air con in U.K. houses now, for summers like last year if nothing else.
This is deeply fucked. She’s 95, let her have a week or two off, ffs. And the rest of us shouldn’t be going into an office when we’re sick, especially when we can work from home and not make our colleagues sick too.
Getting very tired of seeing hardline Corbyn activists, who just last month were convinced of a Labour majority, telling us why we lost, who the next leader should and shouldn’t be, and what policies they should have. Sit down and shut up for a bit.
I absolutely hate these cash-only businesses, especially the ones where they try and guilt you with this nonsense. It’s a blatant attempt to hide things from HMRC.
Ludicrous. Cash needs insuring, storing, transporting, banking which all cost the small business money. But it can be arranged to leave a fainter trail for HMRC. No suggestion this biz does that of course.
This is quite literally the opposite of why many people voted for Labour this time round. They voted to reverse the rot, reverse the decay in the country. It is fundamentally opposed to Labour’s manifesto promise to get growth happening again.
Investing in productive public infrastructure *improves* the public finances over the medium to long term.
Cutting them to fill a "hole" caused by previous government's incompetence/dishonesty is just doubling down on failure.
For all the (incorrect, lacking understanding) whining about £37 billion being spent on test and trace… we can literally order 7 lateral flow tests per person *every day* online, and they’ll arrive a couple of days later, totally free. Other countries have fucked up so hard here
For all the completely deserved hype and attention that Severance and Ted Lasso gets, For All Mankind has somehow almost slipped under the radar in hype for Apple TV+, despite being one of the best streaming shows.
Legitimately very funny seeing people try and excuse Jez et al. as if the referendum wasn’t won for Leave by the very people who would have listened and been convinced by a strong Labour case for remaining.
@sheashyrelle
@t1walade
This is complete nonsense. You don’t increase the amount of CO2 consumed. Surgeons have used masks far, far, far, far longer than any of us have.
“"We are raising prices, where necessary, around the world," he said”
I think this quote misses “…to retain executives’ multi-million pay and bonuses”
Kraft Heinz says people must get used to higher food prices - BBC News
Ho ho, isn’t it funny that you posted absolute bollocks with evident bias, and now you want to laugh it off as if it’s not a fundamental failure to do your job properly!
Incredible. Not only did Meghan LITERALLY kill the Queen according to the Daily Mail, but the Met Office have caused the impending blackouts for not predicting the cold snap!
Labour leads the Conservatives in ALL policy areas EXCEPT Ukraine.
Which party do voters trust the most on...? (Labour | Conservatives)
Tackling poverty (45% | 16%)
NHS (45% | 17%)
Managing housing (41% | 20%)
Education (41% | 21%)
Immigration (31% | 24%)
Ukraine (28% | 31%)
UK Twitter following so much US Twitter has been one of the worst things about this pandemic. We have two nations with vastly different pandemic outcomes and onward trajectories from here, and yet a lot of UK sees US anxiety, and things it still applies here.
@vanillaopinions
It is literally violence - and, in fact, genocide - to suggest that maybe people should buy frozen meals or cook for themselves instead of paying $30 for someone on a slave wage to hand deliver the exact same frozen food to their door. *Literally*
#JokerMovie
is an efficacious & disturbing film that's equally meritorious & tragic. Phoenix's roaring, monstrous performance as the Clown of Crime is so immaculate, so maestoso, it's a prodigious accomplishment, and marks the apex of his already superlative career.
#Venezia76
Too right. You wouldn’t consider it appropriate to balance gay people discussing oppression by bringing in homophobes. Bringing in LGB Alliance as some kind of false balance for trans people is exactly as wrong and unjustifiable.
@Baldpotato3
@Medic_Russell
This is enormous bullshit. It is not “experimental” and nobody has been “forced”. Most people are sensible enough to realise the only way out is the vaccines, and have been eager to get protected as quickly as possible.
That you’re defending the horrendous protest speaks volumes.
Look - just 20 days ago, the BBC reported on the total lack of evidence of “needle spiking”, even cases that were reported as allegedly such. Ridiculous that they’re reporting as if it’s a thing that’s ever been proven to happen.
Not only have the BBC reported this as “she claims she was needle spiked”, they actively say “she was needle spiked”.
There’s no evidence, and the whole concept makes no sense either!
@luciascarlet
I genuinely cannot understand why people just post completely unedited AI slop like this. If you’re gonna generate something, whatever, it’ll look shit. But things like STEAAM would be possible to tidy up. And yet, they don’t, and it looks 1000x worse for it!
That’s not the actual UK spend though.
We *budgeted* £37 billion for two years of *TEST*, track, and trace - likely to ensure that there wasn’t really a ceiling on spend.
In the first year, we spent £13.5 billion, with the vast majority (£10.4 billion) being spent on testing.
@nctspy
You’re sharing a link to an awful Twitter thread with links to malware. Not only is it a grim thread to have shared (presumably for money) but it’s actively incredibly harmful.
@JarrieSam
I don’t think we should be putting any more onus on women to keep themselves safe, and should instead be proactively sacking the creeps who get nicknames like “the rapist”, who expose themselves in public, instead - at the very *least*.
Given it is so administratively difficult to set up this scheme for self-employed and freelance workers, and might not pay out until June, and won’t cover those who haven’t filed a tax return (understandably!) - why can we not introduce emergency UBI?
People saying that restrictions aren’t actually “restrictions” - kindly shut the fuck up. I legally couldn’t see my girlfriend for months last year, and then because I was lucky enough to move in with her, I legally couldn’t see my family for much of the rest of the year.
@WallaceandSons
@H_H_Gray
Not defending Spoons food at all - I agree with you. But almost every chain restaurant is like that nowadays, while also costing 5 times as much as Spoons’ food.
“The story of the night is the number of seats Reform are getting, and the number of second places you’re getting” what the fuck are you talking about? The story of the night is that Labour have won a fucking landslide majority!
Unlimited refills of sugary soft drinks in restaurants may be outlawed, along with selling sweets and chocolates around checkouts, under a new Government campaign against child obesity
@LeithMotive
@WelshGasDoc
Good luck retaining literally any staff in the NHS if that happens. No doubt a lot of doctors have sunk-cost in time and effort, but every extra bit of shit that gets thrown at them tips more and more towards saying “fuck it, I’m out”.
@MrAlecFenn
Fuck off. I’m angry because it’s blatant misinformation that’s been debunked over and over, and looking for a cause of spiking that doesn’t exist doesn’t help anyone.
Actually, *disposable* vapes absolutely should be banned! There is absolutely zero justification for them.
It’s mad that we’ve banned plastic straws which do fuck all for the environment, but we’ve not banned these.
It's as if we learn nothing. Another "ban" call, as if that's a magical solution.
#Vaping

It's already illegal to sell to children. We don't need new law, we need enforcement of existing laws (same for NO). 1/4
