His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), passed away peacefully in Lisbon on 4 February 2025, aged 88, surrounded by his family. Prince Karim Aga Khan was the founder and chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network. The announcement of his designated successor will follow. Leaders and staff of the Aga Khan Development Network offer our condolences to the family of His Highness and to the Ismaili community worldwide. As we honour the legacy of our founder, Prince Karim Aga Khan, we continue to work with our partners to improve the quality of life for individuals and communities across the world, as he wished, irrespective of their religious affiliations or origins.

10️⃣ Baseline Covariates Static “Baseline covariates like BP and eGFR weren’t updated post-AKI. Time-varying data would provide more dynamic insights into AKI’s effects over time. #Methodology #Nephrology #Dementia

9️⃣ Limited Follow-Up “SPRINT’s early termination reduced dementia endpoints. Could longer follow-up have revealed stronger associations or clarified AKI’s role? #AKI #CognitiveHealth #ResearchLimitations

8️⃣ Retrospective Design “Retrospective cohort design limits causal inference. AKI’s impact might be influenced by unmeasured confounders (e.g., severity of vascular disease). #Epidemiology #CriticalThinking #AKI

7️⃣ Mechanistic Insight Lacking “The paper suggests pathways (inflammation, BBB disruption) but provides no direct mechanistic evidence linking AKI to cognitive decline. Bench-to-bedside research needed! #TranslationalResearch #NeuroKidneyAxis

6️⃣ Generalisability Concerns “SPRINT cohort excludes diabetics and stroke patients. Findings may not generalize to broader populations, e.g., ICU or diabetic AKI patients. #CriticalAnalysis #ResearchLimitations #AKI
