Luke Voit lifting clips are hilarious because 90% of the replies will be people critiquing the workout of a professional athlete in a world-class training facility guided by people who have studied sports physiology for years
Just curious, does every MLB team on twitter have that one unofficial fan account with a ton of followers that is just embarrassing for most of the fanbase but is super popular with the boomer fans of that team? I feel like there's one for every team.
Cubs are sending Christopher Morel along with reliever Hunter Bigge and pitching prospect Ty Johnson to the Rays for 3B Isaac Paredes.
@JeffPassan
and
@Feinsand
were on it.
Yandy Diaz failed to defect from Cuba twice and was in prison about a decade ago, now he's hit a homer in the ASG and will be attending the birth of his first child less than 24 hours later. Never been more happy for a guy.
I want you all to just think about how insane it is to feel any negative emotion beyond indifference when a player does a little flip to himself before recording an out in the 7th inning of a 6-1 game.
Jose Siri catches fly balls like THIS on a daily basis😭
Shane McClanahan's 1st half:
1.68 ERA
1.96 xFIP
35.4 CSW%
12.16 K/9
1.64 BB/9
45 Whiff%
One of the most dominant stretches of pitching we've seen in our lifetimes. Best since 2018 deGrom. If he's not your AL all-star Starter, something is seriously wrong.

"Mom, can we have Nick Castellanos solo home run to take a 4-0 lead?"
"Honey, we have Nick Castellanos solo home run to take a 4-0 lead at home."
Nick Castellanos solo home run to take a 4-0 lead at home:
Dylan Lesko is a MASSIVE get here.
FF with 19+ vert at 92-94, a tight gyro SL with 7" ride, a cutter at ~87 with a fun movement profile, and a unique changeup with 13" fade and almost 10" ride.
Stuff+ says he has 3 elite offerings right now, with the potential for more.
Full trade: The San Diego Padres are acquiring reliever Jason Adam from the Tampa Bay Rays for right-handed Dylan Lesko, outfielder Homer Bush Jr. and a third prospect, sources tell ESPN.
🚨Attention all 29 other MLB GM's:🚨
If you see a player named "Brett Phillips" on waivers, DO NOT claim him. He is a player for the Durham Bulls. His status as available on waivers is a processing error. This will be adjusted in approximately 7 days.
Noticed this on the Bulls broadcast during Alex Jackson's homer. No number 2 is currently listed on the Bulls roster, but this looks a lot like Raimel Tapia.
Did a minor league deal get missed during the deadline?
Taj Bradley has a 30.3 K-BB% through his first 6 career starts. This:
-Leads all MLB rookie SP by 10%.
-Is 3rd best overall among SP (min. 20 IP).
-Is currently tied with 2022 Strider as the best mark for a rookie SP in recorded history (min. 20 IP).
Special talent.

"Shohei Ohtani can do this! Shohei Ohtani can do that! Shohei Ohtani can do it all!" You know who I think can do it all? Women. Curious that nobody else has said this.
I'd let off-field Pete Fairbanks babysit my children regularly but on-field Pete Fairbanks is getting slapped with a restraining order no questions asked

Hunter Bigge has made some pretty immediate tweaks with the Rays. He's added almost 2" ride to his 4-seamer, bringing it up to 19.4".
He's also added depth to his curveball, 1.5" of ride to his slider (the most Rays thing ever), and almost 3.5" of break to his sweeper.
It's funny that you can tell exactly how displeased the Rays were the state of the roster.
They jumped the market at the deadline, sold everyone with a volatile profile and/or excessive salary, and targeted the most conventionally electric arms and explosive bats they could find
Post-lockout the
#Rays
are expected to add a RH corner bat. Here's an interesting possible target: Isaac Paredes.
Still just 22 yrs old, career .272/.361/.424 (125 wRC+), 13.2 K% in the minors but has struggled in MLB. He appears blocked in DET (Candelario, Miggy, Schoop, Tork)
Taj Bradley just hit 100 MPH for the first time in his MLB career on a 3-2 count to Aaron Judge.
His average FF velo is up 1.5 ticks today, and his career FF velo against the Yankees is 97.6 MPH compared to 96.0 against all other opponents.
Hearing reports that the

are closing in on a deal for

SP Max Scherzer. Would be a huge boost to a depleted rotation for Tampa.
Scherzer is a free agent after the 2021 season.
DeLuca has 10 RBI in his first 4 games as a Ray.
Pepiot has been the best starter on the team and has one of the best fastballs thrown by a SP this year.
I personally think it would be smart to sell low on your best hitter who fits the exact mold of players you need more of while he's on a team friendly contract and won't hit FA until he's 32
Jim Bowden of The Athletic said in his most recent article that the Mariners have had discussions with Tampa Bay about Brandon Lowe. Jerry… bring him home.
Shane McClanahan's 1.97 xFIP in 2022 is 0.62 lower than the next lowest (Gausman). That's roughly the same difference as between the 2nd and 11th lowest.
It's also the 2nd lowest mark over a pitchers first 12 starts in a season in the statcast era, behind only 2021 deGrom.
If I had a nickel for every time a former Astros reliever signed a 2-year, $10M deal including a club option with the Rays and was then traded to the Mets before the end of the contract, I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice.
#Rays
deal another veteran pitcher, trading RH reliever Phil Maton to
#Mets
for player to be named or cash. Maton has been better of late, but still has a 4.58 ERA and 52 baserunners allowed in 35.1 IP
You're telling me Mason Miller's first blown save of the year comes on Jose Siri's (45% whiff rate against fastballs) second homer of the game against a fastball?
Hilarious game
