Remembering my beloved friend and colleague, Marie Colvin, murdered along with Remi Ochlik, by the Syrian regime 11 years ago today while we reported from Homs, Syria. Miss you mate 🥃
Remembering my fiend and colleague, Marie Colvin, murdered by the Assad regime 10 years ago today while we were reporting from the besieged city of Homs, Syria. Thoughts too to Remi Ochlik, killed in the same attack, and all of the brave Syrians who gave all to save us x
A few portraits of the 68 Jaeger Brigade troops who are heavily involved in the counteroffensive. Somewhere in Eastern Ukraine.

It's hard to believe it’s been 12 years we lost my dear friend and colleague Marie Colvin, murdered by the Syrian regime alongside Remi Ochlik while we worked in a makeshift media centre in Homs in 2012. Me, Edith Bouvier and Wa’el our dear translator were all seriously 1/3
Last year, my beautiful mother died alone and confused. We sought clarity and leadership (

I run hostile environment courses for Ukrainian journalists all over Ukraine. One of the first rules I give them is not to run around the frontline looking indistinguishable from a soldier carrying a gun. Quote from a sniper I know - ‘If it’s in green, it dies.’
If you run around the battlefield dressed as a combatant and, according to various reports, taking an active part in armed hostilities - you are not a journalist, and you forfeit any protection you might expect as a civilian under international law.
Just finished doing 3 hours of back to back interviews with my evil twin, Jamie Dornan, for A Private War. I really hope the journalists interviewing us, found us a funny as we found each other, nearly shat my pants laughing so hard…

I’ve often pondered what the saying, ‘The banality of evil’ really means. I’ve recently found out, reading the tweets in response to serious human rights abuses in Syria, just exactly what is meant in that term. God damned anonymous, fact denying, half wits who inhabit twitter...

The creeping rehabilitation of the Assad regime back into the international fold is something I’ve been warning against for many years. Syria’s election to the WHO executive board is exactly that. This action must be reversed immediately if they are to retain any credibility...

I was a consultant on feature film A Private War. Jamie Dornan was playing me in the film, and one day the director needed a stand in for Jamie playing me. I was volunteered for the part so ended up being my own body double. Was actually quite crap at playing myself!
For over twenty years covering war I’ve always been amazed by the strength and dignity shown by refugees in the most horrifying situations. I then turn on the TV and see Priti Patel bobbing about in a boat in Dover doing her menacing face... sigh..

It saddens me to see journalists insult other journalists in war. I’ve seen it a few times and it’s not acceptable. This guy writes for CNN and the Guardian. We disagree. But we need to have respect for the risks we take. And the work we do.

John McCain became a close personal friend and supported me with wonderful advice during my recovery after being wounded in Syria. Here he is nailing Putins ambitions in one succinct interview.
@JuliaDavisNews
I’ve had a lifetime of disagreements with John McCain (who died in 2018), but this interview from nearly a decade ago aged incredibly well. It was his Nostradamus moment. He nailed Putin.🎯

Alternatively you could ask someone who was actually present on the ground and 2m away from Marie when she and Remi were killed - me. I think in law we are called eyewitness’s. Any other accounts are secondhand or simple hearsay.

A devastating critique of Max Blumenthals new book, which many of his followers assured us would take down the MSM. It turns out be little more than a badly researched, dogmatic comedy of errors. Worth a read!! (The article, but not it seems, the book).
