Very amusing that people who “wOn’T CoMe To BosTOn aNyMorE” cuz of a vaccine mandate act as if we care. Cool, go somewhere else then. All good. We’ll be fine.
I feel like the dirty lil secret in eastern Massachusetts right now is you can't get a Covid-19 test unless you have the privilege and time to wait in line for hours. The idea you can just get tested whenever doesn't match up with the reality I have seen at any point.
Zoning Board of Appeals today denied a mixed-use proposal in Roslindale Square that incl 40% income-restricted housing & new spaces for two POC-owned businesses cuz the Board wants them to “maximize parking on site” acc to the Chair. Boston zoning & ZBA are broken.

Just was in and out of the Anne Cole Covid testing center in JP in <5 mins. Massive credit to Mayor
@wutrain
and team for increasing staffing and hours there.

@MayorWu
Wild how hard this is for many ppl to understand. Very simple. It’s why though I am Warren all the way, I have always liked Bernie and will 100% be with him if the moment arrives.
At some point it will sink in that Bernie Sanders appeals to young voters by offering them the things Baby Boomers took for granted -- living wage, reliable health care, essentially free college -- and the radical thing is that almost everyone else isn't.
I’m excited to announce I’m running for State Representative! I’m a Democrat running to represent the 10th Suffolk District of West Roxbury, Roslindale, Jamaica Plain, & S. Brookline. I’ll be a bold leader & listener for our community.

Huge day for office small talk with a massive storm coming. This is when you separate the small talk amateurs from the professionals. Huge “you ready for the snow?” energy out there.
@MassGovernor
Yet in this key moment in history, when the choice was so obvious if you care about basic democratic and American values, you still couldn’t bring yourself to vote for them? Cmon.
Sad to hear
@TurtleSwampBrew
is closing the Roslindale location. A lot of work has gone into the Substation & had good times there. But I stopped going to TS once they sued to stop affordable housing in JP. No doubt Covid has hurt, but being a bad neighbor is also bad business.
Remember, folks: A new condo building destroys a neighborhood’s character but a nondescript single family home listed at $1.2 mil is totally healthy and normal. /s
A car crashed into a block of stores at Corinth St. Roslindale.The driver was transported by

We can change the Mayor and Council but if we don’t get serious about changing our zoning to allow housing & reducing auto dependency in high-transit areas, we will see a deepening housing & climate crisis. Mayor
@wutrain
, please appoint new ZBA members who get this.
#bospoli
My 94-yr old grandmother today espousing the benefits of building new housing near transit and neighborhood business districts so that people like her can get everything they need within walking distance. 😍
The Boston Zoning Board of Appeal is taking a figurative sledgehammer to
@MayorWu
’s climate and housing goals every other week when they meet. When will enough be enough to change the make up of this crucial board? This is within the mayor’s authority right now to do.
#bospoli
we’re literally never going to meet our climate goals if progressive cities like Boston are blocking four story apartment buildings near transit
@wutrain
please reform the ZBA so that 2/7 unelected members can’t block environmentally friendly transit oriented development
Whatever one’s opinion of the Centre St redesign, it’s important to note that minimal parking is being removed & those few spots are to daylight existing crosswalks, which most ppl agree upon. This is about reducing speed & creating an inviting biz district, not removing parking.
Less parking means less spending at
#smallbiz
. That's why strip malls attracted stores & restaurants generations ago. Taking away parking is ignoring history.

Rush hour on the Orange Line. Packed platform, trains delayed because leaves caused a fire on the third rail (come again?). That’s on top of new slow zones that were supposed to be fixed. This is a crisis & I’ll treat it like one if elected.

When the dust settles on this North End brouhaha, it’d be helpful to have a City Council hearing to go over the entire overall process for outdoor dining and plans going forward to keep it happening in a sustainable way. It has been a net positive for the city.

When the ZBA rejected this affordable housing in 2021, a group of us in Roslindale & beyond pushed hard for a new board. With new members now, the ZBA approved this today. This is how you organize for change. I’ll bring that mentality to Beacon Hill if elected.

Congrats to NIMBYs who succeeded in preventing three additional unhoused families from gaining homes in their neighborbood! Great work all around. (/s)
Finally! We need a ZBA that understands the connections between housing, transit, etc. Now onto making our zoning match the year 2022 in a major American and international city & remove all these variances & allow new housing. Thanks,
@MayorWu
. Let’s keep it up!

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is poised to nominate a new slate of members to the city’s Zoning Board of Appeal as soon as Monday, according to multiple sources inside City Hall.
Calling much-needed affordable housing “The Monster” with that image is shameful. I saw this recently in Wayland. The proposal is 60 units and 4 stories high on a state highway. Wayland has only 4% existing affordable housing. is opponents’ site.

Had to show my vaccine card to get in somewhere today and wow just the sound of tyranny was deafening.
Or it was simple and not a big deal and everyone did it w zero fuss.
This is a huge victory for Jamaica Plain residents and surrounding area neighbors who care about housing, beer, and bringing back a treasured gathering spot. Such great news.

Cillian Murphy and Liam Neeson are right there with Pfeiffer and DeVito as a Batman movie villian one-two punch but it’s overshadowed in the series by Ledger’s once-in-a-lifetime performance.
Anyone who attends community meetings knows one of the first Qs is “how long have you lived here?” as a perceived measure of credibility. I’ve always rejected that since it’s really your commitment to the city & nhood that matters, not where you were born. Let’s stick to that.
Still thinking about members of the Zoning Board of Appeals saying with apparent sincerity that a proposed four-story building on a street full of triple-deckers and four-story buildings was too dense for the existing neighborhood in Roslindale. What are we even doing here?
If it’s in the Politico morning email, means it’s official. Very excited for this new role working on behalf of the children of the Commonwealth. h/t
@lisakashinsky
Got a notice about an abutters meeting for construction of a new 3-family building on a vacant lot on the street behind me. We really should be at the point where these are as-of-right and don’t require variances and endless process and meetings.

Once you ride a bike and experience it, you see how close the city is to being a really bike-able place. But we’re not there yet and need the political will. Thanks for highlighting your experience!
It’s really depressing that this has been a known problem for a long time & yet nothing can get through the Legislature to fix it. Multiple mayors & city councilors have tried. Meanwhile Boston’s local restaurants are beaten out by big money in an artificial govt-created market.
We need to uncap the liquor licenses, make them non-transferable, and make them cheap. Boston's culture suffers when only deep-pocketed restaurant groups and established businesses can afford to open a full-service restaurant, or a nightclub, or just a bar
Cleared out a dozen sidewalk & curb ramps in my area & around Roslindale Sq tonight as part of the

Death, taxes, and the ZBA rejecting 4-story buildings in an area with plenty of them already, half a mile from Forest Hills. At *some* point we are going to get new members of this Board, maybe?

So excited the Roslindale Gateway Path construction has finally begun! Years of community work and advocacy went into this. This will create a mile-long walking and bicycling path btwn Roslindale Sq and Forest Hills thru the Arboretum and MBTA right of way.

I love Boston dearly but I can’t deny there are times I think about leaving for a more affordable place. I won’t do that for a number of personal and professional reasons. But I hope policymakers understand the pressure on the non-rich here - financially, emotionally, etc.
No shade on anyone involved whatsoever but I’ve read some version of this story for 20+ years. It shouldn’t be *that* hard even if the condition of the T is def a major barrier the City can’t control of course.

Last I’m gonna say on this for awhile. I’m glad to be back to work today. I love what I do at the MA Dept of Early Education and Care, helping families obtain childcare. I appreciate those who have reached out after last Tuesday.
Standing in solidarity with our Hyde Park neighbors and Boston community against disgusting hate crimes perpetuated against this beautiful, needed LGBTQ+ senior housing development The Pryde. We’re not afraid and won’t back down.
It bothers me when people or electeds discuss wanting “family-sized” housing eg 3-4 BRs apts or condos, as if single individuals or single parents or just roommates in a 1-2 BR aren’t a family too? It may be well-intentioned but there’s a lot of inherent bias in that terminology.
I served on the Impact Advisory Group for this project and am happy to see it moving forward. It’s an excellent site on Rozze-WR line for transit-oriented housing adjacent to commuter rail and close to Centre St shops and restaurants.

Just reupping again that it’s truly amazing that Boston doesn’t even recoup the administrative costs to administer resident permit parking. I can’t get a copy of my birth certificate from City Hall without paying for it but parking all day every day on a public street? Free 🙃
