Also, has it ever occurred to some of these Muslims, that the same freedom that allows us to live here is Muslims, and to be able to observe our religion, is the same freedom that lets the LGBT community live as they would like to live.

And one more thought, and I am done. I wonder how many of the same people are protecting their children from abusive and predatory imams and spiritual leaders in our own community?
@LexiAlex

Not for nothing, and I know this is an aside, but these are the same people that used birth control on Ethiopian Jews, and did not want so-called African blood to mix with theirs, as regards transfusions, because they said that the Africans may have aids.

And just to be clear, I am actually talking about the US and Canada. I am not talking about France, which is a completely different situation entirely.

You can’t really make peace when one side thinks the other should be nuked out of existence. And that only the other side is the terrorist and you are the freedom fighter. And only you are entitled to the land that you are living on even if it means stealing it from other people.
@scholar_auntie

I actually remember that. Note also that many law enforcement organizations here in America get their training from Israel, or did I misread.

Define pushing gender ideology. What do you mean by that? And I want your words, no videos, articles, posts, etc. As they say, show your work. My guess is that it is just like people who always want to say the word woke. They can’t define it.

Was it in Missouri that some man thought that an ectopic pregnancy could be re-implanted? And these are the people that are making our laws?

I hate to bring this up for reasons which will become shortly apparent but this reminds me of how during the Holocaust Jews were told to leave their luggage on the train platforms as it would be returned to them later.I remember when I heard about this how awful I felt.

In my experience, many men say they like independent, and or confident women, until they get one, and then, because of their own insecurities, they have to find ways to suddenly or not so suddenly tear those women down.

I am just posting as regards my earlier discussion on another thread about indoctrination. It is funny that religious coercion is not called indoctrination, however, if this was an LGBTQ group, people would be screaming indoctrination all over the place.

They seem to be only a Jewish state for certain kinds of Jews. So yes, a western colonial settler project would pretty much describe it. Although that is subjective as well.
What happened to all the dawa stuff about women being respected and all that? As well as all the pro hijab and niqab articles talking about the supposed intelligence of women who decide to wear either one of those items.

that’s what I am saying, they don’t give a crap what Muslim women feel. And I think most of them either agree with him or sympathize with him, because if they didn’t, they would never have given him a platform.
@totaljenstate
@Mocurrie25
I’m with you, completely rude and entitled. And btw, you can’t assume when making a general statement like this that you’re talking about people who frequent your house.And even if that was the case, a text/call before coming is still better than just showing up.
@michaelarria
@Mondoweiss
@Hilton
Notice it did not say for Hamas rights. It said Palestinian rights. So, even if people want to say, they do not conflate Hamas with the Palestinians, at least it seems like the corporate world does. So for mini, Palestinian equals hamas Just like Muslim equals terrorism.
@LexiAlex
@DarakshanRaja
The birth control was given without the women’s consent, and, if they did refuse, they were threatened with expulsion. So, it seems that, at least, in some cases, Israel cannot really even call themselves a Jewish state.
@omarsuleiman504
OK, so according to the press conference, they had no problem with the landlord before, in fact, he had built the boy a treehouse. How do you go from building a boy a treehouse to stabbing him 26 times?
@LexiAlex
@DarakshanRaja
Because, as mentioned earlier, African Jews definitely were not treated as first-class citizens. They would not have been forcibly given birth control, and threatened with expulsion if they refused if they were coming from Europe or America.
@cyber_scrutiny

What is interesting to me, is if a Muslim woman was to post pictures without hijab, for example, a lot of men would not be as quick to give her an excuse.
@BenjaminPDixon
@terrelljstarr
This is what I’m saying. Many Muslims/Arabs are either personally affected by what is going on in Gaza, or know someone who is. So this issue is personal” for them. It’s not just an abstract thing.
@TinyMuslimah
@MomodouTaal
What “differences” are we trying to navigate? Saying something is “haram” and then walking off isn’t a really constructive way for Muslims to deal with their fellow humans (both Muslim and non) who happen to be LGBTQ.
@omarsuleiman504
@jordanbpeterson
I am reminded of how at one time many Muslims were supporting this guy, does anyone remember that? That sure did not age well, didn’t it.
@LexiAlex

Because if I went to Israel, and I am not Jewish, I would be a second-class citizen. I would not have the same rights and privileges as a Jewish person would, or more specifically, a Jewish person of European descent.

@fromthebunkerjr
I mean, aren’t cops supposed to have all this special training for situations like this? Instead, literally seconds go by and the first thing they think to do is shoot him/use deadly force?
@thesocialhijabi
This is what I think about this whole thing. It is wrong what Hamas is doing, however, the Israeli government has been doing the same, if not much worse for years, and nary a peep.
@TinyMuslimah
And the husbands are encouraged to provide for their wives and children, although I’ve never seen any real consequences if they dont do this. At least not in my experience. And let’s also remember that for many Muslims, men have the absolute right to divorce, for any reason.
@lubbadubbdubbb
@TheLadyImam
All I’m gonna say is while some of you are saying “hey let’s give NAK a break/another chance/we shouldn’t judge him”, ask yourselves what your reaction would be, say, if a sister didn’t or stopped wearing hijab. Methinks the reactions would be quite different.
the US killed an Afghan baby’s parents then a marine, Mast, forged documents to steal her away from her remaining family.
Her family has been trying to get the courts to return the baby but despite overturning the “adoption” Mast still has custody of the child
@TinyMuslimah
Again, as a woman and a convert, I find this exhausting. I’ve actually personally stopped even discussing the “women have rights in Islam” trope/defense when talking to non-Muslims about Islam,
I am starting to wonder how true the attempts to make traditional Islam more palatable for western women actually are. How much of it is truth, and how much of it is propaganda.
@ProtectYoFaith
Not only this, what they are also being dishonest about is that many lawmakers don’t even want to make the “medical exceptions” the original poster talks about.
@TheUnknownSalek
@MomodouTaal
Let’s flip that around, you guys go to hilarious links to sell out to the right wing white supremacist evangelical Christians. How is that?
But weren’t we just told by some of the Muslims that the right wing conservative’s were our allies? And how they were all going to convert? All because of moral issues? Remind me of that again? Maybe they’ll stop the attacks if she just comes out against the LGBTQ community.
A right-wing PAC is targeting the only Muslim woman to ever sit on NYC City Council despite the fact that she’s running uncontested & her constituents (Bengali Brooklyn + white liberals) love her.
Do they really think their ads will work on Hajji Uncle or Park Slope Sharon? LMAO
@TinyMuslimah
Not to mention, let me just say that the men/brothers engaging in the same “behavior” don’t get the same advice/“harshness”, or “bitter pills” if you will.
@hugorifkind
@OzKaterji
So that’s the difference, those of us who support and speak out for the Palestinian people can also simultaneously express grief for the Israeli civilians who were also killed. Apparently not everyone can do that.
@MomodouTaal
You know, it’s reading stuff like this, it makes me wonder if I am even Muslim anymore. And I feel horribly sad and saying this. Apparently, I am not Muslim, if I don’t want to burn other people at the stake, who are supposedly immoral.
@TinyMuslimah
And with so many people defending Tate and co-signing misogyny in the name of defending “Islam” from the “feminist”/“liberals”/whoever, how can I even argue with her? But last I checked “Islam” I didn’t think needed defending. If it is the truth, it should stand firm, right?
@Mark_J_Boyle
As a Muslim and a person with a disability, who also has a child with special needs, I’m feeling quite relieved today. Because there were times that Trump did not make people like me, who was born and raised here, feel like we even belonged here.
This guy talked about picking up cheap wives abroad? See this is why I can’t take these “oh my gosh LGBTQ is haram” people seriously. Because some of these people are the same people watching pornography and “halalifying” one night stands and calling it marriage.
The guy who talks about picking up cheap wives abroad is asking married Muslim women in the West how much sex they're having
just make a sex tourism travel agency and be done with the Islam talk

@DarakshanRaja
@CAIRNational
Then why couldn’t CAIR just have continue to help Muslims on a case by case basis? Why come out with a policy statement like this?
@imam_marc
@rosie_bee__
@TinyMuslimah
I think we can see where the priorities are when numerous posts deal with “homosexuals” “transgenders” “feminists” “liberals”, etc., but crickets when allegations of abuse/mismanagement once again come out against a prominent imam.
@MomodouTaal
But this is how they always do it, kind of tell us what we should do, but not real world ways as to how to get it done. It’s all just slogans and talking points, no real solutions.
@MomodouTaal
Going by the title alone, all I will say as a blind Muslim woman, is that there are many reasons why I may choose to ally myself with the so-called progressive left, and they don’t just have to do with moral issues.
@TinyMuslimah
@MomodouTaal
The statement today did not give me any nuanced guidance on those points. Just a rehashing of the traditional position and a right for people to hold that traditional position. I didn’t see anything new or anything that was necessarily “clarified”, but that’s just me.
@Abdul_Q_86
@gothum_
@zedonarrival
@SumbzTX
I am only speaking for myself, but I am not used by anyone. That is why I don’t just go and jump on anyones bandwagon just because I agree with them. some Muslims have a tendency to run after someone just because they pat them on the head and say nice things about them.
@KimGhattas
@TVietor08
Again, these comments are terrible. Just switch the terms Israeli in place of Palestinian, and no one would even be making these kinds of comments. You would be accused of being anti-Semitic if you did.
@leahmcelrath
@mehdirhasan
Here is a question, how do people think occupied people should deal with their occupation? I mean, the Palestinians are an occupied people, and Israel is an occupier.
@still_reading
What’s interesting though is that if you look through the imams tweets, he’s saying secret marriage is “permissible” while castigating the women, not men, for getting involved in these sorts of things.
@ahlhadeesaxad
At one time, I would have fallen for a statement like this. That in some theoretical, mythical placed, a Muslim woman would get all of her rights. But when does this ever happen in the real world?
@j035ich5pach
@mehdirhasan
The problem with that adage, is in order to get that sovereign country, many people had to be displaced. So there is that to think about.
@IAmGwenom
I hate to even mention that for obvious reasons but when I read accounts of how Palestinains are treated under Israeli occupation tha is what it reminds me of, along with things I used to read/hear about regarding apartheid South Africa.
@DrJavadTHashmi
@WajdiAkkari
Personally, I’ve never really understood this whole idea of takfir-int people. Can’t we just leave people alone? Let them follow whatever interpretation they’d like, as long as they aren’t hurting anyone.
@rubiestRosie
I actually wondered about this. When I was reading about Islam in 2000 or so, there were whole sections of web pages dedicated to women in Islam.
@OrangeMentosSzn
@RachelRileyRR
Let me just clarify that people driving around waving Palestinian flags may be a bit unsettling, but to me, is not as bad as people dancing on the grays of other people. I am just saying. And I don’t care who does it.
@rubiestRosie
Does that not exist anymore? I almost feel like I woke up in an alternate universe, Where everything all of the islamaphobes used to say about Islam and women are actually true.
hey
@msnbc
why are released Israeli hostages humanized (as they should be) as dads and kids but released Palestinian hostages are given no names or families and called 'males' and 'females' as though they were animals?
@OrangeMentosSzn
@RachelRileyRR
Also, supporting the Palestinians is not necessarily anti-Semitic. So, just because they were waving Palestinian flags does not necessarily mean that they were targeting Jewish people.
@SanaSaeed
This is so unbelievable I almost am hoping this is some misinformation bot making this up and I’ll then have to come back and correct myself.
@TinyMuslimah
@MomodouTaal
I can be against things that I may find morally objectionable without having to put out a statement about it. And I don’t feel I’m “compromising” anything. If I feel something is morally wrong, I just don’t do it, I will teach my kids that it is morally wrong. That’s it.
@ahlhadeesaxad
Because on one hand you have Hadith and on another you have Muslim scholars, saying women are deficient in Deen and intelligence, and thus should not be listen to or taken seriously.
@Abdul_Q_86
@gothum_
@zedonarrival
@SumbzTX
An example is when I remember when CAIR came out in 2000 and tried to get the Muslim community to vote for Bush, because he mentioned the word Mosque in a speech, and also said some nice things about the Palestinians.
@DrJavadTHashmi
@SumbzTX
@Haqiqatjou
I know this is a bit of a digression but I saw that debate and I stopped around the time he started answering questions. “That Daniel Guy didn’t win anything. You gave a good intro and it sounded like he spent the rest of the time complaining about one thing or another.
@patdixon
@wayfaringstngr
@Imposter_Edits
Interesting how people are saying “oh but they were acting nervous” uh if the police are known for shooting black people within seconds of walking up on them I’d be a bit nervous too.
I actually remember this quite well. I seem to recall the Muslim community organizing blood drives, and putting out Q&A’s as to whether or not giving blood broke the fast because I think it was Ramadan then.
Saw an Omar Suleiman clip saying Muslims must not have solidarity or alliances with queer folks.
For my part, I thank the queer community for its defense of us Muslims after the Pulse shooting.
I sure don't recall OS telling them we don't need help.
@ahlhadeesaxad
@MomodouTaal
Oh wow, nice how you inserted a little racism there. But then again, it’s easy to say things when you’re not using your real name either. Because I am sure documenting is not your given name.

@DavidCornDC
@ReverendWarnock
@HerschelWalker
Lol bothered, LOL. What does he have to be bothered about? what should he have to mention Herschel Walker‘s name? Let him run on the things that he cares about and his own accomplishments. Isn’t that what we all say we want in a politician?
@ahlhadeesaxad
And in my experience, muslims tend to defer to scholars, because they supposedly had so much more faith, and taqwa and all of that, then we do now today.
@dancohen3000
@MarioNawfal
Not only that, even when they tried to leave, weren’t they bombed even then? So now they want to say that Hamas put up roadblocks so they could not leave? Who knows, bombed out roads and collapsed buildings may also keep them from leaving as well.

@Margari_Aziza
@afsc_org

@totaljenstate
@Mocurrie25
Not only this, as others have pointed out, you have no idea what is going on, maybe they are having a bad day, maybe their house is dirty because they worked 60 hrs that week and didn’t have time to clean it. Maybe they have covid. You don’t know.
@TinyMuslimah
@MomodouTaal
I use drinking alcohol as an analogy. I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t allow it in my house, but if my neighbor is going to have a beer, I can’t stop them. But I also have to tell my kids that some people drink beer, some people eat pork, etc.
@ScottRothstein4
@InesAbdelrazek
Wait wait, so telling civilians to evacuate, using a certain road, only to bomb them on that road when you told them to leave isn’t premeditated?
