Really feel this. I'll never forget how hard it was to support my students, deliver teaching, fulfil admin & research obligations, w/ a 3 y/o, in a house w/ 2 academics & no office. If there was a thank u email, it wasn't memorable but having my pension cut by c.40% definitely is
I was thinking today, while on strike, about the horror that was the first few months of the pandemic, when we moved heaven and earth for our students to try to get them through a terrifying and uncertain period; when everyone was frightened for their health, for their loved

Got my hands on a copy ahead of Wednesday's launch 😍 The fire of 1922 destroyed so much; this special issue offers a glimpse of what survived.
Congrats to all involved in its publication

Stories of Ireland's Abortion Trail may seem like a modern concept, however, Irish women travelling due to unwanted pregnancies is woven into the fabric of the Island's history.

"All historians, in constant intellectual dialogue between present and past, will be acutely aware that the stakes on gender equality are currently very high. If ever there was a moment when real, transformational change is possible, this has to be it."
Today we are launching our second report on promoting gender equality in UK History, drawing on a survey of hundreds of historians and making a wide range of recommendations for good practice. The report is now available at

A box was found in my attic. Empty, except for a scrap of newspaper. Years of searching newspaper databases had led me to this moment. My skills were needed! Took a few tries, but there it was, Oct. 1952. Tbh I expected applause. But I'm sure they were impressed on the inside ;)
Today I sent off the proofs for my first peer-reviewed journal article and I’m gonna be on the telly tonight for the first time talking about my research... not a bad day PhDing!
