Almost choked on my drink when @ZakBrownMclaren claimed McLaren have a history of not favouring one driver over another. Has anyone checked in with David Coulthard about that, or Gerhard Berger? 🤣

@ShiftingSands2 @ZoeJardiniere Oh I forgot that some may also be victims of trafficking who manage to escape, and seek asylum due to fear of retribution or being retrafficked.

@ShiftingSands2 @ZoeJardiniere Or when circumstances at home haven’t changed - ie there’s been a war or an oppressive regime, or something else for a while - but their immigration status in the UK changes - e.g. their student visa expires or they lose the job their work visa is tied to, and they seek asylum.

@ShiftingSands2 @ZoeJardiniere 2. The UK doesn’t give visas for asylum seeking so the only way to use regular transport would be to try to get a tourist visa. This is very unlikely to work and impractical for people in these situations. So this leaves only irregular means of transport like small boat or lorry.
