Battling Blood Cancer. Recent induction NWO Sports HoF, Former pxp WHA Jets, NHL Jets, CFL on CTV, over 100 episodes of CTV Wide World of Sports, Just A Minute
Going for GOLD tonight. 39 years ago...Canada had yet to win gold in the first 9 years of the even. Jan 2, 1982...that changed. CTV sent me to Minnesota to report. Here is that report....unseen in 39 years.

RIP Matthew Perry. Born in the USA…grew up in Ottawa where his step dad was NBC legend Keith Morrison, who in the late 70’s actually anchored the 6 pm news on CKY-TV Winnipeg with Sylvia Kuzyk and me.
Congrats to my buddy Rod Black…..his son Tyler has been called up to the major leagues. Go Brewers….what an honour. And Rod made it to Chicago in time.
@RodBlackTSN
40 years since I plucked you out of that class at Red River College and started one of the great careers in Canadian broadcasting. So many stories….a few we can even repeat.
Flew back from LA with the Brain beside me in First Class. Talked 3 hours...great guy. Asked if he’d come on my CKY-TV sportscast next night. He said sure. Came on, yelled and screamed at me for 10 minutes. Got off camera he calmly says.”Let’s grab a beer”.
I met Juno award winner Joey Gregorash in 1974. He’s a sports nut so we hit it off. Worked together at CKY-TV, did dozens of charity events together in Manitoba. Played hockey and fastball together. So great to reconnect…..cause…you never know.
Few knew that Bomber legend Kenny Ploen was actually a bit of a poet. At his Memorial Service today his son opened an envelope that was still sealed, and included a note on the outside that read “NOT TO BE OPENED UNTIL MY FUNERAL” or something close to that. Moist eyes.
Sorry had to delete previous tweet because I can’t count. Dale Hawerchuk’s 50th goal during 1984-85 season is
#2
on my list as he scored in style against Blackhawks on 03/29/85. In last 18 games that season Dale had 17G/16A/33Pts to finish with 130 Points
Chemo day 4 of 12 at St. Boniface until first week of August. Short day today with one hour drip of Bendamustine. Good time to plug these available next week.

&2. Les Lazaruk PY and Paul Edmonds. 30th luncheon. Oh yah, and the championship ring.
New rules. Apparently you aren’t supposed to touch the AVCO Cup. Yah right…I’ve hauled it all over Whistler, Toronto and Winnipeg. Drank from it with Bobby and the boys. Oh well. I’ll respect the rule. Yah right.
As parents and grandparents around Canada get ready to cheer on the little ones who just want to play baseball or softball because our frozen tundra has finally thawed.....lets remember this.
Happy 71st birthday to Willy Lindstrom. 3 AVCO Cups. Think about it…in his career he played with Anders, Ulf and Bobby…plus the three greatest centers of the era, Dale Hawerchuk, Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.

This is an incredible tribute by my buddy Scootch…..I only got to,see him play once, when Friar Nicolson and Margie took my wife and me to our first Bomber game….but I was fortunate to call him a friend after moving to Wpg.
Greatest and Classiest Blue Bomber of All-Time has passed away. QB/DB Ken Ploen, four time Grey Cup champion, turned down the Chicago Bears to sign with the Bombers in 1957. After retiring he and wife Jan made Winnipeg their home. Loved by all fans of the Blue and Gold. He was 88
Yikes...I have a son who turns the big FIVE-OH today and another who turns 42. Happy Birthday Jason and Branden....cake next year hopefully. And also happy birthday to my buddy Don Jonas.....all three born on December 3rd.
Come on Internet…make this guy famous….who is he? Kicked a dog in the face in Assiniboine Park and threatened to “fu*k” up the female owner. Cops looking for him.
We don't look like we did 31 years ago but we'll all be at a mini-CKY-TV Reunion Sat. 2pm at Brown's Portage Ave. along with tons of radio, print and TV types from that era and a documentary crew from LA. So,which one of those Jets games did Rod Black and I NOT broadcast and why?

Ref and linesmen schedule is determined months in advance and teams know there is no guarantee they will see them in the playoffs (if they make the playoffs) so they take the opportunity the final time they see a ref in the regular season.
FBF. A year ago today Dr. Basem Elbarouni put 4 stents into my heart and likely saved my life. He told me to make changes. 235 to 164, just under 1,000 miles walking. Got to see my grandson’s 3rd birthday and now hoping to be around for number 4.

on friend of 53 yrs Don Percy. He and I did mornings in TBay -5 years both ended up in Wpg when our teaching employers allowed a leave of absence. Not mentioned, the fact 92 FM asked if I knew someone, but KY scooped him before he could start.
Thanks to Michael Grueber for uncovering this gem. Gretz, Orr in Manitoba Jets jerseys. Looks like Lyle Moffat down the bench. Charity game in support of Billy Heindl, 1980 in the old arena.

48 years of Friendship, you never know when it’s the last time you might see someone. Tough saying goodbye to Anders Hedberg and Ulf Nilsson as the left for Sweden. 100’s of laughs, great stories. Some can even be retold.

In 1978 3 guys shut down Gordie Howe and the Whalers in an AVCO Cup sweep. So Moffat,Guindon,Lesuk reunited last night. But it was Guindon, the playoff MVP, who came up with the line of the night. He claims this trio should be called the NOT SO HOT LINE. Brilliant.

Fully vaxxed? Leave no doubt when approaching someone. Michael Wynne and me today. Proceeds to St. Boniface Hospital Foundation. Just have to show your barcode. Might soon need to buy CFL tix.

My dad is back in his fight against cancer due to a resurgence of this terrible disease. We are praying for him and he will continue to fight hard ❤️

Bones is in South Florida to address the Jets.
a) I'm taking more time to be with my wife while she recovers
b) I'm returning to the team after this road trip
c) I've decided I've had enough and will return to the east coast in retirement.
WHAT DO YOU THINK.
Awesome feature on the day it was announced the Thrashers were moving to Wpg. I was living in Calgary. We went to the corner pub for dinner and I wore a Hull 1972 Jets jersey. Got a big ovation when we walked in. Hockey.

Got a call on Monday that took me to the dark places that I'm learning it part of the cancer fight -
Now that I've been able to regroup
I'll be doing live video tonight
Keep fighting
Keep putting on the foil 👊
Great CKY Reunion to shoot an upcoming LA documentary and promote the children's book series from former CKY sportscaster Lisa Bowes. So great to see my TBay buddy Don Percy. Thanks to the film and production crews from Los Angeles and Winnipeg.
Tracking the ex-Jets....Russ Romaniuk is back in Manitoba. Bumped into him at Hillside Beach yesterday where he’s helping build houses in the new Hillside Heights development. Beaches there are best kept secret in MB...oops my bad.

First WHA game in Winnipeg, Abby McDonald, who passed away last night, takes the ceremonial faceoff with Edmonton’s Al Hamilton. WHA founder Dennis Murphy drops the puck as Bobby Hull looks on.

Well it took me parts of three days (cause I couldn’t put it down) but I finished “Broken Ribs and Popcorn” by Geoff Kirbyson. A spectacular trip down memory lane. Triggered so many memories,in fact, I’ll tell you a Fergie story that will blow your mind on Friday’s Just A Minute.
Well, Salt Lake City is certainly going to sell more tickets. I mean, when a guy says he’ll take his wife to a hockey game, that’s six tickets right there.
Flew back from LA with him in the seat beside me. Asked him if he’d come on my sports broadcast in Winnipeg. He said sure. Great conversation for 3 hours...arrives at CKY next day. Open the interview and he yells and screams at me for 5 min. Great guy.
Went thru 24 rounds of chemo at St. B, has my spleen removed at St. B, had stents put in my heart at St. B...best doctors and nurses in the world in my opinion from my experience.
