Certainly can’t say this about everyone on the coverage of Scottish football, but I always enjoy listening to my old colleague Paul Mitchell

Again the ITV commentary team either unaware or don't care that they've broadcasting not just to England but to the whole of the UK. Give England the 'homer' commentary that they are entitled too, no issue but please just give us an alternative that is neutral.
Why is Ally McCoist such a good co-comm? You can start with the energy level which already puts him ahead of many. His knowledge comes across well, attempts to give insight not just talk over replays. Knows when to have some fun - tries to entertain as well as inform.
Said it before, will say it again England should have their own coverage of their games and the rest of the UK should get a neutral commentary team. That would be fair on them and fair on the rest of us.
OK, in my humble opinion.... Jon Champion & Ally McCoist are the most listenable commentary pairing in the World Cup on either channel.
Away to find tin hat and hide 😄
Was in with the Southampton fans last night, they rarely stopped signing. The surprise was the lack of noise from the home fans who roared at the goals but didn't get noisy again until stoppage time.
Sad news. Alastair Alexander, one of Scotland's best commentators, passed away earlier today. Alastair enjoyed a long BBC career, covering many sports with his trademark rich voice & great phrasing (as heard here). We kept in touch after he retired, I'll miss our conversations.
So to ITV analysis - "we deserved the penalty as we've had bad luck before in tournaments" and "well it was deserved as we've been the better team" Utter nonsense.
Anyone be able to calculate the monetary cost of 50000 folks traveling from Edinburgh to Glasgow and also the unnecessary environmental impactt? Doubt it will happen but Murrayfield, if available, the obvious choice for the Semi Final.
If any
@spfl
League 1 or League 2 clubs need a hand during this lockdown with some voice work for their website (no charge) or wish to investigate an online quiz to raise funds for your club please let me know. DMs open. Please RT.
My sincere apologies, it appears last night during my commentary I forgot to mention 1966, 1996 and link players to joining EPL clubs. I am not that person, I will learn from this and be better going forward 😉🤣🤣
If you think its fair to demote a side that should they have won their game in hand would've moved off the bottom place then you should resign. From the moment vote by email was bungled this has been a PR disaster. Someone was always going to lose but this is not a vindication
Anyone else find it utterly ridiculous that we don't have a set of new year's Day fixtures but have a pointless January midweek card instead?. NYD Edinburgh derby should be mandatory.
England deserve their own TV coverage and commentary for England games. Rest of the UK should get their own coverage and commentary to reflect the fact we don't care who wins. English coverage is rightly bias towards them - but it can be grating for neutrals to watch.
Joke, sport getting booted again. Get jabs, show proof, get a booster, wear a mask, follow rules and tell you what we'll shut you out again. No one that feels uncomfortable is forced to go. Let those who want to do so 8n a setting that is outdoors. Awful.
Robbie Neilson
@JamTarts
in his interview with
@BBCSportsound
states that he doesn't believe the goal was offside, he knows it was. Doesn't want to say more but "we were done by a poor official". Another quote "its Scottish Football and we are in Glasgow".
Another update from UEFA: The goal has now been disallowed as the referee once ate Haggis and didn't like it. Also, rumours he didn't like season 5 of Still Game.
My youngest has just texted me to tell me his school are running a trip to the Scotland v Israel game - I replied that if he doesn't behave himself between now and then I'll make him go 🤣🤣
@PaulMacdFC
Can't blame Sky, blame UEFA and clubs greed. Their call to move it off terrestrial TV. Even having one game a week on ITV too much for them to allow.
If only there had been a way to solve this on the field by say, playing the games that were outstanding as soon as practical rather than end a season sparking a melee of statements with the only common theme being self interest
"So it's a Dundee v Patrick Thistle winner take all for the right to decide the season. Dundee 11 changes from last time out with new on loan signings Forster, Julien, Biton, Ayer, Forrest, McGregor, Taylor, Édouard, Brown and Rogic all in plus a welcome return for Griffiths" 😄
⚠️ The last trains to Aberdeen on Friday night will be at 2143 from Edinburgh and at 2140 from Glasgow. Make sure you're at the station in plenty of time to catch your train, a queueing system will be in place at Haymarket.
@Hampdenpark
@BTMurrayfield
@Scotlandteam
@ScotlandNT
Anyone who thinks the ending of the Scottish season is just, is kidding themselves. The solution may be a practical one but in no way can it be described as fair.
Good grief there are still articles being written about why Scots should be supporting England. Do people not understand sporting rivalry? I wish England no harm and hope they get what they deserve from their performances but support them - nope.
The company doing scaffolding work opposite the main stand at Easter Road have a sense of humour - protective netting has more than a hint of maroon about it!
So many good things about the world cup final but isn't it superb no one is talking about the Ref.
That is how it should be, Ref had a terrific game, tried to let the teams play and get on with it and nailed the big calls without worrying or relying on VAR.
Little known fact, England once played and beat West Germany in a world cup final. Research shows it was 1966, rarely mentioned these days. I do the all the hard work so you don't have to. Hopefully footage exists and we'll see it before next week.
Like it or not, the Referees that we have are the best in the country. We can invest in them and offer a pathway to full-time employment as a ref and/or we can invest in technology to help them. Majority of issues in last week would have been solved by VAR.
Fell in love with rugby watching 5 nations with my Dad. 1st rugby int I attended 1981
@Scotlandteam
vs Wales as a schoolboy & ever since my favourite fixture. Today I get to commentate on it in Cardiff - fulfilling a big ambition. Dad gone a while now, but wouldve made him smile.
After 25 years together, going through good times and bad I can announce its over - my mortgage and I are no longer together 🤗. It's been fun but time to move on! 👍👍
This may be one of the best self-improvement books I have read.
@ScottAdamsSays
with plenty of ways to overcome what may hold us back including dealing with failures and embarrassment
Some reactions to Hearts likely relegation are amusing and some understandable but please don't kid yourself that your team wouldn't have fought this just as hard if they'd been bottom. The one thing that the clubs share is self interest first.
Hibs move up to the top of the statements table for the year after pulling out a stunner in which no one was sacked, no one resigned, no one was under suspension but two people left their jobs having presumably caught the unshakable mutual consent virus that is going around.
I take no joy in people losing their jobs but everyone at the Downing St Christmas Party must resign or be forced out. 1922 Committee should have a delegation at No. 10 tomorrow. The loneliness and misery many endured last year to do their bit to help can't be treated like this.
Timing is everything, once again Scottish football shows contempt for member clubs. Agree or not with Hearts & Partick just let the legal action play out and pick up from there.
A wee cameo on Red TV last night covering Aberdeen at Ross County. Appreciated being asked to help out and it was a pleasure to work alongside Steve Cowan again, that is always fun.
Once again Scottish football governance has shown itself not fit for purpose. Allegations of bullying to get a deal through and no imagination to deal with clubs issues in these troubled times are added to an ever expanding list of missed opportunities.
If those think that Livi are inferior, winning by effort, tackling & being direct then why don't these other purveyors of the beautiful game not just go out and beat them? Livi a much better side than often given credit for.
BREAKING: 27-year-old Paul Mitchell charged with invading the pitch and assaulting Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish during today’s match at St Andrew’s. Mitchell remanded in custody and will appear before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Lots of debate about clubs who spent money on new players during cv19 times flagging up they may need assistance. If you spent to improve your squad leaving yourself financially vulnerable that is your fault, no one else's.
After the debacle of proposed super league, UEFA and FIFA now somehow hold the moral high ground. One with a virtually closed shop Champions League that doesn't want small nations near it & one who sold the upcoming world cup to a corrupt bidder. Neither are fit for purpose.
My eldest is called Adam, named after the first man in the Bible. He was Born in the latter part of 1998 - no truth in the rumour I provided my wife with a shortlist of 4 names - Stephane, Adam, Colin and Cameron 😁
Today's 'not live' Scottish Cup match is one for the

@BorisJohnson
people are not playing politics and looking back at a year ago rather than looking ahead. You lied, you broke the rules while thousands suffered and you should resign. The worst PM in my lifetime. A disgrace to the office.
Heartening to see the great and the good of Scottish Football taking time to send good wishes to
@JamTarts
Craig Levien. I've known him a long time and I wish him a speedy recovery.
Seeing comments about Hearts not being able to avoid legal costs. If only they had a connection to a mysterious benefactor who likes to give money away to support Scottish football...
Hampden is the Skoda of football stadiums. Gets the tick marks from the corporate bodies (UEFA 5 star stadium), does the job but you'd much rather own something else
#EURO2020
Joey Barton is becoming a footballing equivalent of Hilary Clinton - blames anyone but himself for things going wrong. Having another pop at the Scottish game today, one in which he was spectacular - a spectacular failure.
Should a national cup final be on Free to Air TV? If yes tell your club, part of the league that accepted a deal which meant the League Cup on pay-tv only. The idea that a pay TV company should make a final available for free defeats their business model, don't blame them.
Had better nights. Thanks to everyone at A and E for putting me back together. To my wife for her amazing first aid skills after I I accidentally broke through a glass door (I do feel daft) Thankfully only 7 or so stiches over 2 cuts.
Wow, the stadium in Baku makes Hampden look touch tight. Pitch looks rotten, makes for poor TV viewing as well. The only thing that isn't Uefa's fault is that irritating grating noise that can be picked up periodically - that's Robbie Savage
#UELfinal
"we don't hold reserves year to year" sounds like bad business practice. Don't take legal action against us as we can't afford it arguement does little for the image of the organisation.
Steven Gerrard responds to Craig Levein’s comments re playing against 13 men Gerrard: “The only mistake I saw in his [Levein’s] interview was it was 14 men as our fans were magnificent’’
Gotta love football.
I know many who will disagree but he's been without several of his best players for large parts of the season- Boyce, Baningime. Gordon, Halkett -
Third and fourth placed clubs have sacked their managers this season. Expectations are absurd.
Heart of Midlothian Football Club can confirm that it has parted company with manager Robbie Neilson.
We'd like to thank Robbie for all of his efforts. A full statement from the Board of Directors will be released in due course. No further comment will be made today.

Just heard they're filming next Fast & Furious in Edinburgh. Cars whizzing by at 19 miles an hour, halted by numerous roadworks, broken axles needing repaired from crap roads & being held up by a trams while being shouted at by car hating councillors will be thrilling....
Heading to Istanbul for the Hearts game, flight is at least 50 percent Hearts fans. Singing started already. Noise cancellation headphones in operation 🤣
Line from a friend yesterday, "Life sucks sometimes". So true. To prove this news arrived I'd just missed out securing a new professional opportunity - gutted.
Later on my Eldest advised he will graduate from Glasgow with a 1st. Proud Dad moment, sometimes life doesn't suck.
Finally the day has arrived, the return of Scottish Football with the launch of our own curtain-raiser Charity Shield - Combined Heart of Midlothian/Patrick Thistle XI v Rest of the League. Live from a rainswept Edinburgh this morning. Can't wait.
No surprise panel found in favour of league, as soon as fixtures came out that's how it was going. Someone was always good to lose in haste to call season, lots of evidence teams in trouble don't always go down. Partick's demotion is the more unjust. Self-interest always wins.
Until Scottish football gets some decisive leadership and clubs stop using the childish arguement of "it's not only us it's them" we'll get nowhere tackling issues. Lets acknowledge there are many clubs fans indulging in sectarian & racist behaviour and deal with it.
Wiser people will know the rights issues but would be great to see the old Sportscene & Scotsport highlights shows from 70s, 80s & 90s shown again in full during this football drought. Old Cup Finals in full also would be great.
Up late after the
@EdinburghRugby
game preparing for tomorrow's Scottish Cup tie but mind drifting to the early loss of Liam Miller & reading tributes to a great bloke. We have no idea how long we are for this earth, all we can do is do the best we can and treat others well
Scott Bain is a good keeper but has hardly played this season. He's unlikely to play for us
@ScottishFA
so why not reward Zander Clark for his sterling form or Liam Kelly and get a look at these guys in a squad situation?
This is great news for ESPN. America yet to produce a decent play by play guy (world cup on Fox was awful) so go for the best in the business.
@JonChampionJC
- will be a loss to the UK, should've been lead voice on Sky or BT.
We take football too seriously. For me this was intended to be light-hearted. Should Hibs win the next derby, and its highly possible they will, the floor will be Neil Lennon's to reply and I'd bet he'll have fun doing so.
Amiens and Toulouse will NOT be relegated from Ligue 1 after France's national court blocked relegation 🇫🇷
Ligue 1 could be played with 22 teams next season 👀
I plan to publish my proposals for changing Scottish football later today. Just giving advance notice to allowing people to immediately reply to this tweet dismissing them as being unworkable. That's how it works isn't it?
