Has Coronation Street had its day? I would certainly say it has moved on for a new generation. We were lucky we had the old guard for so long but things move on. I think it’s exhausted itself. Cut the episodes and farcical storylines.

Derek Thompson is one of those old-school actors who has been on our screens for years, does the job, does the job well, doesn’t court publicity for doing it. EastEnders Steve McFadden is probably another. They’re a rare breed now.

The end of a great radio era and a great partnership. Loved the moments, especially the lockdown shows when Paul would say he was stuck in the linen cupboard amongst some old TV tat and an old BBC mic hanging on a string. Moments like that just made it all real. God bless him.

Loved this show. Proper 90s sitcom. Ended the same year as Noel’s House Party with a Millennium special and due to Gary Olsen’s untimely death, further series were sadly never commissioned.
