In Gerwig's "feminist" utopia, Ken dolls have subjective desire but Barbie dolls don't. In her film, Barbie awkwardly changes the subject when Ken asks to sleep over at the Dream House. There are no scissoring scenes. The erasure of feminine jouissance makes this film anti-woman.
This fabulous new book about David Lynch is now available for pre-order➡️

It's being quoted out of context - I heard the original interview, the meaning was different. It's presented here as clickbait.

He didn't endorse drastic weight loss as an aspirational goal. He observed that severe starvation in preparation for the Joker role initially left him feeling very weak, but once he reached his goal weight he suddenly felt very energised and obtained a new awareness of his body.

Agreed but we can't hold Joaquin responsible for the phrasing of the headline. The writer of the article is deliberately removing nuance to get an outraged response from readers, and it has worked judging by this thread.
In the process of writing my book the best ideas occurred during extended sessions of staring into space, letting frenetic mental activity happen as it wants to. Your creative projects take shape inside you in moments when you think you're being unproductive. Give yourself grace.

I recently had my ideas and theories co-opted by someone in an article, which was immediately taken down upon my request.
I now feel it is necessary to state that I regard plagiarism as a form of bullying and harassment, which I do not accept or tolerate under any circumstances.
THE WHALE is Darren Aronofsky at his best: body anxiety, fascination with the bible, broken family relations, and determinedly trying to overcome existential suffering and find meaning through honest committed love of one's work. Brendan Fraser is ethereal here 😢❤️

Apparently somebody reported my Twitter account for "indecent content". Psychoanalysis causing offence and outrage... ain't it always the way? Sending love and prayers to my hater 😂🙏 Ignorance is a disease, sweetie! Get well soon 😘

Those who "cut off" caring people do so not necessarily to be cruel, but because they secretly believe they don't deserve the joy they found. Part of a larger pattern of lack of self-care and low self-investment. We can't convince them otherwise, so we shine our light elsewhere✨
Red Rooms. This one scared the hell outta me. Pascal Plante's direction, Juliette Gariepy's performance, and the sound design by Olivier Calvert together create a terrifying nightmare. One of the most effective horror films I've ever seen at

I will not be sleeping tonight 😩
In CLIMAX (2018), Gaspar Noé casts Psyche as a devious prankster; she floods the dancers with passion, pain, and poison. They're like pieces of fruit floating in the spiked sangria punchbowl, soaking up toxins. Psyche in Ancient Greek = soul; invisible entity animating the body.
@GShaneMorris
I realise this is an alien concept to you, but sexy people don't need to try, they just are, irrespective of age.
Why would you possibly want children to be born to people who don't want 'em?
Anyway, can't wait to sleep in this weekend in my quiet clean apartment. 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑

New on my desk: GHOSTWATCH, British reality–horror pseudo-documentary TV film directed by Lesley Manning, first broadcast on Halloween 1992. BBC reporters appear to perform a live on-air investigation of a London house at which poltergeist activity was believed to be taking place
Good cinema perplexes me, makes me feel ambivalent; but afterwards, when talking about it, exchanging ideas, I feel I'm working through something else, something deeper, that has been bothering me.

On my radar: HYPOCHONDRIAC (2022) American horror thriller film written and directed by Addison Heimann. A potter's life devolves into chaos as he loses function of his body while being haunted by the physical manifestation of his childhood trauma.
Very sad news yesterday about Lars von Trier being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, but I'm glad to hear that he wants to continue working 🥲 Hate the thought of him being unwell 💔
