A group of migrants were hunted and shot by brothers Michael and Mark Sheppard last month. At the time, Michael was warden of the West Texas Detention Center run by the private prison company LaSalle Corrections. Under the Trump admin, this would have been much bigger news.

This was my first story “big” story as a reporter. It meant so much to me as a wanna-be foreign correspondent. A lot of us have stories like that about Vice. If it felt hard in 2015, I’m not sure how anyone can get a foot in the door in journalism today.

After nearly two years, as of today vaccinated individuals can enter the U.S. for non-essential travel. Traffic is light at the Paso Del Norte bridge. Some people were reuniting with family or stocking up at El Paso shops. @elpasotimes
