This is also related to the global crisis of democracy...

@ConversationIDN
published Indonesian trans. of my article criticizing Islamophobia in India & Muslims' focus on blasphemy
Relevance:
-Indonesia has a controversial blasphemy law
-Some Indonesian Islamic actors denied China's persecution of Muslim Uyghurs
Declining religiosity is the trend in not only Arab countries but also Turkey. Islamists and ulema have preached that Islam provides solutions to everything from toilet etiquette to politics. This utopian preaching is now leading to a secularist backlash:

Happy to have performed Hajj on June 10-23, 2024.
Comments: 1-Hajj is a personal journey. Making the arrangements & payments, traveling, staying in challenging places are a unique experience.
It offers opportunities for deep contemplation, devotion, forgiveness & transformation.
1-Did Ghazali cause Muslims’ scientific decline? According to some reviews in English, Arabic & Indonesian, my book argues that. It does not. The ulema-state alliance caused the decline. Ghazali had complex ideas & one person cannot stop a civilization

I missed touching my essay in a printed newspaper. I'm happy to read my essay analyzing Pakistan's new blasphemy law in

Erdogan’s party has lost Istanbul & Ankara, and may end up as the second party nationwide in today’s elections. This may mean the beginning of the end of Erdogan’s rule in Turkey.

1-Turkey has worse than a financial crisis: It has a moral crisis. Two years ago, I wrote this blog to note how the Islamist regime causes young Turks to leave Islam. The ulema mostly support the regime. During the last two years, the crisis got deeper:
UPDATE: An Azhar official has reached out to a friend of mine & said that they are not behind the ban on my book. This makes me happy, though I wish they directly contacted me. I hope the governmental restrictions will also be lifted and Egyptian readers can freely read my book.
