I believe it comes down to this. A lot of young people want to be taken care of instead of doing it themselves. That means total compliance and bowing down to government authority. To them, it's worth it. To us older people, it's outrageous. Truly frightening trend.

Retired letter carrier here. That brought to mind a time when an older lady greeted me in her driveway, seeing I was carrying her mail and a parcel, arms pretty full. She innocently said,
"Here, let me relieve you of your load."
OK, let me deliver your mail first." I never said.
