Can someone reassure me that constant low level disruption is happening at every secondary school?
It’s really starting to bog me down and my behaviour management has previously been effective so it’s extremely demoralising.

Is behaviour really getting worse? I’m not going crazy surely right?! 😫 The sense of entitlement and lack of respect from students is getting worse by the day.

So it’s official… have told work I will be leaving next summer after I’ve returned for my 13 weeks after maternity.
I also won’t be moving schools… for now a break from teaching.
I feel so much lighter and happier for saying it out loud. 😊

Returning to work tomorrow after four weeks off due to stress and then a minor stint in a&e for dehydration.
Feeling a tad anxious about it but I know it’s much better for me to go in before Christmas than leaving it until after.
I’m covered in the morning to ease me in.

So my husband is booked onto a flight, and potentially two weeks earlier than we had expected! So if you could all keep your fingers and toes crossed that we will be reunited after six months apart that would be much appreciated 😬.

So this week I resigned (end of academic year) and I feel liberated!
No plans as of yet as we need to await our next posting for October time but I’m 80% sure it won’t be back in a school for now.

So with all the excitement of moving house, I forgot to announce I got my TAM pass certificate on the last day of term!
Somehow managed to pass the second assignment 🎉😊. Just a shame I haven’t got any a level teaching at my new school 😕.

Our school are doing a complete timetable of live lessons but from yesterday we switched from 50 mins to 45 mins and what a difference 5 minutes makes! I actually feel like I get a breather between each lesson as opposed to rushing to get the next lesson set up.

Well surgery was yesterday and was a huge success. Doctors and nurses have been incredible and I’ve been allowed my first sips of liquids this morn which have been a taste sensation.

Met up with some friends today and one of them is a GP. She said she’d noticed a distinct rise in the number of teachers coming to her recently with stress, anxiety and depression. Said she was shocked to hear so many stories of how little support there is.

Approx 12 attendees to the first maths puzzles and games club at lunchtime. Very happy with that and it was super fun!
Myself and four students had a game of Qbits (I won obviously 😉) and there was mass Rubik’s cube solving.

I am LOVING marking year 12 assignments on my iPad with my Apple Pencil. No tatty handed in paper coz I made them all email in a consolidated PDF and I can rub out my marking mistakes. Love it!

This is me. I felt a bit sad about it yesterday but have woke up this morn appreciating how incredible it is that childcare was even in the budget let alone at the forefront.

Solidarity to all the mums who gave birth in the pandemic with no support and now will miss out on free childcare hours because their child will already be three/four by the time it’s implemented

Well I am absolutely thrilled to say I have had my moulds made for two hearing aids. Two audiologists were brilliant. I have moderate hearing loss and they’re going to refer me to an ear, nose and throat specialist to investigate further since I’m not very old.
Desperately hoping my teaching experience is going to become a bit easier tomorrow 🤞🏻
Off for a hearing test on the nhs after waiting over a year for an appointment. Really hope I meet the threshold or it’s going to be a costly private job.

Every week out head sends out a document filled with any positive comments from students and parents.
One of my year 10s had sent a massive email praising the school but gave me a specific shout out at the end. I welled up 😢 a nice end to an awful awful week!

One big thing I’ve noticed with live teams lessons is the students understanding is significantly greater (backed up by DrFrost independent work) when I chalk and talk as opposed to just pinging up everything through PowerPoint animations.

I’ve had 4 good lessons today and in the moment I really enjoy teaching... but as soon as I come home I just feel so negative and like it’s not for me anymore. It’s really eating me up all the time as I’m just so confused where my head and heart are at. 😕

This week has had many lows but today gave me a great high... year 10 set 2 absolutely nailing quadratic nth term from only 30 mins teacher input. They are my saving grace right now!

Had my first teams lesson with my year 11 bottom set today. We used

live game and the kids loved it. One stayed on until the end to say it was the best teams lesson she had had so far.

Last day of half term anxiety is hitting hard this evening.
Our long term supply decided not to return so I’m having to double up in my bottom set year 11, take on a new year 9 class whilst setting cover for every lesson for my previous year 9 class.
What teaching crisis? ☹️

Well I couldn’t be armed with any more notes if I tried for my first a-level lesson tomorrow 🙄. Don’t think I’ve felt this anxious about teaching since my PGCE year. Just need to get the first one out the way and have a bit of self belief. 😁

Also hugely grateful to about 12 teachers in school who have had a change in timetable to accommodate a room change for me as part of my risk assessment. A room about twice the size and I’m so excited! Space - at last!

Today has been one of my most anxious days I think since I’ve started teaching. I thought I was going to have to pull over on the way to work.
