The entire music industry is gov created and tax payer funded, gov objectives are cascaded down and instruct inculcation. Music artists are kept on a VERY short leash - if you do as gov wants you’ll get staggering annuities in the form of music residuals, and if you don’t, you won’t. This was what spawned the success of Kazaa and other p2p - it was artists looking for ways to distribute their music without bullshit cia intermediaries. Remember it was Hilary Rosen (RIAA) and bullshit idiots at Metalica that stopped the technology and restored the music cartel to the big labels
