@MultiMayo @BookMormon2day So the Book of Mormon is true based on testimony of Joseph Smith. He is to be believed because the Book of Mormon says so. Therefore, ignore what history tells us about his character flaws. Circular reasoning at its best. I wish you the best and honestly will pray for you.

@MultiMayo @BookMormon2day I specifically referred to the character of Joseph Smith. I don't have to read the book of Mormon to have an informed opinion about his character and the shadow it casts over the religion he founded.

See James 1 :20. We don't win by embracing the works of the flesh.
This is seeker-sensitive theology coming from the other side. It is wholly unnecessary to use profanity and/or crude or inappropriate gestures to attract men to the cause of Christ. If a man belongs to christ, then Christ Himself is enough motivation. If a man does not belong to Christ, then no amount of appeals to his fleshly "manliness" will bring him to the cross on bended knee. Only the Gospel empowered by the Holy Spirit can do that. There is a glaring lack of sanctification and holiness in some of our soteriologically reformed circles and it grieves me. Far more importantly, though, it grieves God's Holy Spirit. I'm all for manliness and masculinity. The Apostle Paul under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit did say in 1 Corinthians to "act like men." But Paul also said under the same inspiration of the same Holy Spirit, "let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth (Eph. 4:29). These verses are not contradictory. They go hand in glove. Profanity, suggestive language, appeals to fleshly desires in general are not ok. Let's call this what it is - sin. No matter how good or desirable the ends may be, it is not ok to sin in the means to those ends. And to do so reflects, ironically, a lack of confidence in the sufficiency of scripture and the Gospel which is at the heart of the seeker sensitive philosophy which, in turn, is decidedly unmanly.
