@boomerkent @levelsio @dimiboeckaerts I didn't say he was elected... just that OP was incomplete (missing parliament role) and it's common practice in all democratic countries. Nor I'm saying that EU system is perfect, but shown me an ideal one...

@boomerkent @levelsio @dimiboeckaerts He is unelected for a reason, so he works for the whole EU and not just France. But he can only be appointed if elected people from EU selected him and approve him. This is a typical process for many positions (e.g., Judge on Supreme Court in US) in many democratic countries.

@boomerkent @levelsio @dimiboeckaerts This is also not too different to US system, where you have Secretaries of State (e.g., for transport) that are not elected but confirmed and can issue regulations.
