"Outfitting of the Princess Warrior"
For Omios Ures, my fantasy setting!
This painting was probably my most ambitious one yet, so RTs and comments are very much appreciated!
See thread for detail shots and more. :)
dwarves are little people made of metal. the older they are, the greener their skin (from the patina). when dwarves die, they are traditionally smelted and forged into weapons or armor to be passed on as family heirlooms.
after months of NDA, I can finally reveal my first ever artwork for
@Wizards_DnD
!!!
very happy that I got to paint a dragon of all things!

's "A Young Adventurer's Guide: Dragons & Treasures"
halfling ranger commission from two-three years ago? never posted this one because I felt ashamed of leaning so heavily on references for the panthers, even if I thought it all came out looking pretty neat. silly in retrospect I guess!
listen... i love the classic dwarves/elves just as much as the next nerd, but when artists come up with a design like this and say "this is a dwarf", that's when i start paying attention.

Here's my take on the classic 3E kobold - which had more of a reptilian look than the dog/lizard mix we see today. Detail shot in the comments.
Also
@KoboldPress
- something tells me this might be right up your alley? :P
I can't believe I never posted this specific kobold here. this was painted for
@helloMCDM
's Flee, Mortals. :)
coming up with their armor was a bit challenging. the idea was to take inspiration from roman troops whilst having their equipment made (mostly) out of scalinous chitin.
I got the go ahead to spoil some of the monsters I've painted for
@helloMCDM
's Flee, Mortals!
starting with this big bad hag...
huge thanks to everyone at MCDM and
@Jetpack_7
for the gig. you're all wonderful to work with. :)
it makes me really happy that my most liked art here is a personal concept for Omios Ures, my own fantasy setting.
expect more of this stuff in 2024. :)

Here's the Crystal Jelly I painted for
@helloMCDM
's Flee, Mortals! Probably one of the most relaxing ones to paint of the bunch. I used a couple amethysts as reference for the crystaline bits, and purple slime for the... well, purple slime bits.
Kobolds are cat-sized, cunning creatures capable of using small casted shadows as portals to get around. Widely seen as pests, they generally nest in basements or attics. Kobolds have a tendency to hoard all kinds of items; such as cutlery, jewelry or even underwear.

a few sketches and color variants for the kobold signifier. original sketch was super lizard-like. since the creature's purpose was to wield a banner in battle, i found the frilled neck had a nice ceremonial vibe to it.
we ended up going with a more draconic look!
antarctica blood falls.
while fringe theories will attribute the phenomenon to iron-oxide tainted saltwater, the scientific consensus defines it as an open wound of the buried god.
Although Gurgmalg is now feared for his intimidating visage, he wasn't initially happy with his infamous armor. In fact, the warlord was so letdown, he personally cleaved the commissioned blacksmith in half. In a New Orc Times interview, he reasons: "He shoulda put more spikes."

what if dwarves were made of metal?
the drukdarog: centuries of exposition to magic incenses turned their skin bronze. as they grow older, they are prone to patina, just like real bronze statues.
concept for my fantasy setting
Karamouska perches over an endless abyss believed to be an orifice of the buried god. The local priesthood - the Cult of the Cave - have appointed clerics to spy and hassle those who continue to defile the hole as if it were a mere subterranean landfill.

@arvalis
check this dude out! been following his art on fb for years and just found him here on twitter. afaik his rendering is entirely done by hand. (he's got process vids) no textures used. no 3D. insane skill.
