It's been a week to celebrate Gay Byrne & rightfully....but one has to admire how Ryan Tubridy has fronted up & performed in tricky circumstances...& 3 Late Late Shows in a week & the funeral must have been draining...fair play to him...credit where it is due...

Sitting beside a Stag party on way to Dublin from Gatwick who had just spent £30 on plug/phone adaptors for their weekend.... that's taking

When your 5 year old visits granny & raids the attic & finds this.... 1985

@Paulmcgrath5
2 weeks ago Dublin were looking fallible & were there for the taking...now Prime Time talking about 10 in a row, money & unfair disadvantages.....what a difference a game makes....
I managed to walk in treacherous conditions to a nice air conditioned taxi...I nearly died. I nearly froze. I took pictures......this guy walked to the Antarctic in an Aran jumper & wellies... he didn't moan...be like Tom..Tom is cool...
#TheBeastFromTheEast
People slag, bitch & moan about
#Bono
but it's just naked begrudgery... he does waffle some awful pony at times but I think his heart is in the right place...lovely comment on the Frontline workers....fair play to him for supporting good causes...
#LateLateShow
The worst cliche ever... "penalties are a lottery" ..they aren't.. they are a test of skill..nerve..confidence... goalkeeping ability...

@TheSundayGame
Every cloud...Jack made over €50 today for
@trocaire
playing his Tin Whistle to banish the snakes after his Paddys Day Parade...these are strange days but there can be happiness, generosity & goodness all the same...
A small thing maybe...but local boys School
@BelgroveJBS
calling on all the boys to wear Dublin gear to support the
@dublinladiesg
this weekend..
It's great (and right) the boys are hyped for the Ladies team & don't differentiate between their sporting heroes...

Hearing drunk blokes in Toners talking about buying Bitcoin & value of same reminds me of getting property advice in 2006 to buy Bulgarian apartments from same kinda drunk people.....
Anyone who hits or attacks a referee in any sport anywhere needs to be banned for life & their club fined & docked points in all competitions.. it's disgusting and inexcusable...
Think what you like about certain people & disagree with their politics......but the gloating when people lose their seats is, well...just not very sound. Someone has lost their job folks...
#Election2020
Of all the mankiest Novembers in a long long line of manky Novembers...this has to be the mankiest of the manky & mankier than any I can remember...

Not a great night for Dublin .but one Dub who really excelled was
@NoelleHealy
who is proving to be a really insightful & eloquent analyst on

Well that was nice...Dad's 80th birthday today...10 years or so since the onset of dementia/alzheimer's but so lovely to tell stories, remember the fun times & sing a few songs...

So...22 years ago on this day...
@KCrokesGAAClub
won the
@DubGAAOfficial
senior football final....a great day & should have kick started more championship wins but a few final defeats & near misses say otherwise.....but you should treasure & never forget the good days...so...🏆
As an employer...parent of young kids.... son of elderly folks...I've been pretty upbeat & positive since March...but this is a very difficult day...I hope they can take the people with them & its the right call...only time will tell. We go again...the battle recommences

So there you have it...all good things must come to an end & Dublin's rein was always going to finish at some stage.....Mayo were better & deserved it.....Dublin had one of those very bad days they haven't had in many years...the world keeps turning...
These Kerry boys of the 70s make the Dubs of today look like a Not For Profit organisation... between Bendix Washing machines, milk ads, ropey Adidas trackies & memorabilia....

I had the pleasure of interviewing this legend tonight.. what an absolute gent... one of the greatest...they say never meet your heroes but....

Irish football undoubtedly at v low ebb...you can blame MON & Roy (maybe justifiably) but ultimately this is a test for those who run Irish soccer to step up & show vision..a proper player pathway from schoolboys needed & big investment in a neglected domestic league

Having to drink 3 of them in 10 minutes before they went too hairy was interesting...but I put the head down & did my very best....

Even those that constantly bitch & moan about the GAA have to acknowledge that the opening weekend of
#AllianzLeagues
is a joy to behold & a brilliant weekend of sport...More of this please...
A Deliveroo driver has told how he used his helmet to hit the man who had attacked a woman and three children in Dublin city centre yesterday. Caio Benicio is originally from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and arrived in Ireland a year ago. The dad-of-two said he “acted on instinct”.
Going to take something very very special to beat this amazing sportsperson for 2021 sports star of the year...& it's only April...we do have an Olympics, Ryder Cup, GAA season & much more to go mind you...
Town is buzzing this afternoon...people eating & drinking in the sun...a real feeling of hope & optimism...AND both Keoghs & Bruxelles are open for pints! 😍🍻
Teachers have a very tough job...made much harder now with Covid...we need to support them & address concerns..not scorn them or slag them off....particularly with respect to health & safety...
hopefully no strike though....society needs kids at school...
#TonightVmtv
We need to see more of Dr Ronan Glynn ... a very good communicator & in touch with the public...he is the man to carry the message...

just now as Tanaiste says high likelihood of no flying out of Ireland this year & Sam McConkey says we will live with Covid for another 3 to 5 years despite the vaccine.....lovely.....
There are 4000 or so schools in Ireland...they are doing their best...no need to panic if one or two or even three have to temporarily close or send kids home for a while......

Just watched the

2. Kieran Duff was a brilliant footballer
3. People can be very generous in spirit

You might not agree with everything he says..He might not agree with all he says himself sometimes..But Drew Harris is a really good communicator...clear...empathetic..succinct..
answers the question & then adds the context & supporting facts & argument..fair play.

A win is a win is a win...very proud to play my part & manage the lads to an All-Ireland Final after a very tough battle against Mayo....now for a star studded Tyrone team in a few weeks...we go again!

In times of crisis & difficulty the real character of people shines through...& indeed company values..I think Ryan Tubridy has shown leadership, compassion & strength. Fair play lad. I dont give a fiddlers what he is paid or what others think

Over the weekend I marked a guy 24 years younger than me...& now I hear its the 20 year anniversary of David Gray's White Ladder...not sure what makes me feel older...
The 10th year of our Sports Sentiment Index. It's all about Lowry, Katie (yet again), the Dubs & the Hockey women.. Tokyo 2020 & the Euros looming large on the horizon....

What a wonderful player...I don't think people here realised how good he was & appreciated what he achieved in Italy...I loved him growing up...
#LiamBrady
Yes... hindsight is 20-20 but what a poor decision to let it go ahead...not the fault of Cheltenham necessarily but the UK Govt & NHS...who didnt stop this going ahead... now the UK has to suffer due to poor leadership & decision making...
If I was a teacher in a busy & bustling school... getting to the end of the week would be an achievement in itself.. and I would pour myself a generous glass of whiskey every Friday to mark the occasion...
