.@MayorofLondon pushed for something similar in London and SE a couple of years ago, but was blocked. If @hmtreasury and @transportgovuk give @AndyBurnhamGM ‘s plan the green light, surely they will have to do the same with @TfL @Se_Railway @SouthernRailUK @TLRailUK et al?
Today we set out our plan to bring rail into the @BeeNetwork by 2028. It follows the same approach as GM took with bus re-regulation: three phases with clear deadlines. It has been developed with the rail industry and we will now seek the agreement of the Government. 🧵 1/8

Two words: One crash
If we were serious about growth, we’d sack every tube and train driver in the country, replace the actual driving with AI, and hire in new people to be safety and ticket conductors on contacts from this century. This will obviously happen eventually, why are we putting it off?
