He's Carlos from Brazil. Involved in an accident and almost had the hand amputated in 2016. It was sewn into his abdomen & left in for 6 weeks to help it grow enough tissues to support a skin graft. He was able to move fingers & feel his organs internally. Surgery was successful.

It was a published case in 2017 & occurred in Florida. His signature under the tattoo was blurred out in this photo. The case needed an ethical decision to be made as he was unconscious and their was no family around. It was decided his wishes be honoured & he died the next day.

Also, Dr Religa became health minister in Poland. Died 2009 due to lung cancer (was heavy smoker) The patient (Tadeusz)lived with that heart for extra 30 years, he died in 2017, outliving his surgeon by 9 years. The first successful heart transplant occured in South Africa.

#MedTute Sudden loss of smell or taste especially without upper respiratory tract symptoms should raise a strong suspicion for COVID-19. Increasing presentation of this as the only symptom of the infection, or raising the probability of being a carrier is now known.

So, our research on Asthma and Migraine got published.😉🙂. It falls in line with similar studies done in other continents. There is a directional association between Asthma and Migraine. Physicians should keep that in mind when managing chronic headaches in known asthmatics.

I schooled in Ilorin,i got federal Govt scholarship,and paid next to nothing for my MBBS, only for Nigeria to lose me to Australia, i reflect on it, i feel indebted, but at the end of the day you are your own saviour. Its harder to grope in the dark when you see the light.

#MedTute Blacks have a poorer prognosis with Colon Ca, more proximal disease & distant spread at pick up. Do not ignore an unexplainable new onset iron deficiency anemia in a middle aged black patient, always check the MCV in a FBC result, hypochromia is a key indicator. RIP CB

#MedHistory When next you take antimalaria, remember Tu Youyou spent years working on over 2,000 extracts before discovering artemisinin & self tested it. She's the first Chinese to win a Nobel prize in Medicine. She's 89 and currently works to prevent resistance to the drug.
