I work with a lot of material from the 30’s so I thought this 1935 Japanese phrase book would be a great way to see how contemporary phrases were translated and OH BOY
ARE YOU NOW QUITE POSITIVE THAT ENGLISH IS ALWAYS CORRECT?
It’s a small, fiddly book to get good photos of and there’s currently no copy of this available online, if people are interested I can attempt to digitise it.

"She tried to argue her point but I didn't want to hear it so I told her she was upset and shut the conversation down."
And yet he is still surprised that it 'spiraled into a big fight'? Give me strength.
Good morning! Thank you everyone for enjoying this book with me. 😊
I will see if I can digitise the whole thing in the near future.

I went out drinking after a breakup and a cis man friend was like "your drunk walk is like how a drunk woman walks, see this is how drunk men walk watch" and gave me drunk walking lessions until we almost got hit by a taxi

A Milk Hall was a popular name for a while for a western-style cafe, somewhere where milk (in tea, coffee) was served. A Ruuhokurumi is, idk, perhaps a rare type of walnut…

I read your other book, Ikigai, from cover to cover when I got it as a gift. I started it in good faith but I found it to be orientalist, racist, and condescending. So I do not trust that these issues have been fixed in your next book, seeing as the branding is the same.
@bottle_storm
It had this one small section on ‘Chinese’ but nothing on hiragana, katakana - I guess it was mostly aimed at people who needed to speak Japanese but not write it?
Estrogen? I think you'll find that this was originally a pagan hormone celebrating the goddex Ostaragen. It disguises itself as a Christian hormone but actually has much deeper roots into traditional feminisation rituals, hence the eggs. Traditionally, an egg represents a trans-

They could have turned this around. They could have apologised, and paid you, and given you the credit of having your work used in a national exhibit - but they didn’t. Your work was only good enough for them when you didn’t have a voice. It’s expoiltation in its purest form.
It's official: The name of Wales' newest (only?) science fiction and fantasy magazine is Gwyllion!
There are currently 4 of us involved and writing up our submission guidelines, designing covers etc. Watch this space.

This kinda happened to me. I noticed them all laughing in the little glass room. Asked them about it afterwards, and apparently a trainee nurse had seen a long 'W' shape in my brain and asked if that was my eyebrows. Which cracked everyone up because no lol it was meningitis
@HazelMonforton
I met an anti-Reylo type (at a convention! In person! Ahh those were the days) who was also... a big fan of Mads Mikkelsen's Hannibal? Like do u not see any inconsistencies here??
Thank you so much for the support!

And so the appintment was the GP asking if I "felt ok" and offering anti-anxiety meds. I literally held up a blood soaked towel and he did nothing. Went back a week later with a much more severe infection. Saw a woman this time who was also angry on my behalf. 2/2

This is why my favorite genre is slice of life x horror
Uneventful days of homeliness and sunshine interrupted the neighbor, who BIT me, can you imagine? She BIT me. Who does that? Oh well, let's put the kettle on. Gosh, I think it might be infected...

The first letter in full, from the Internet Archive - Gertrude I hope you got to read so much more weird fiction in your life and, just maybe, you found out if tigers made good pets

Wow, so they're repurposing the language of consent to further demonise trans folks, by comparing their existence in gender segregated spaces to sexual assault? That's so sinister.
@stimmyskye
I had a cut that wouldn't stop bleeding, and I was losing a lot of blood. I cried about it on the phone to the receptionist, and this somehow got translated to the GP as "They want an emergency app and wont stop crying about a cut." 1/2

Human Lost by Dazai Osamu is now up and available to read for free on Yobanashi Café.
A candid account of his time in Musashino Hospital, it was the first time Dazai used the term 'no longer human' and includes words scribbled on the walls of his cell.

In Britain your guest will stand there with their hands on their hips and sorta admire a random wall and this is your cue to say ‘would you like a tour?’ and then they reply ‘yes, sure, lead the way!’
You also have to say ‘sorry about the mess!’ even about the rooms you cleaned
Today I held in my hands the first ever printed issue of my first ever magazine. Yes, I cried, just a little. I can’t believe it’s really here. I got to work with so many talented writers, editors and artists along the way and I’ll be forever grateful. Onwards to issue 2!
Have I ever mentioned how much I love the Meat-Shaped Stone? I think about it often.
Made during the Qing dynasty from banded jasper, the naturally occuring layers in the stone have been exploited to create the illusion of braised pork belly.

""She's kind-hearted and sweet and I just don't know what could have happened," said Jessica Bornstein, Hope Webber's tenant."
'Please don't make her angry, I don't want to be evicted.' The tenant added in a whisper. 'Oh god no, don't tell her I said that.'

I'm seeing the exact opposite happen. Many normal women and cis women are glad that trans lives are being taken seriously. No-one is putting men in women's bathrooms.
