“Fancy music” is a phrase that only a truly childlike mind could conceive. If a five-year-old came toddling downstairs in his superhero PJs and interrupted his parents’ dinner party by asking them to turn off the “fancy music” all the adults in the room would go “aaww” in unison.
I feel like the critics who gave Black Adam low scores are the kind of people who sit around drinking wine while listening to fancy music and saying that movies are art.

It’s aged beautifully. Nineties time capsule that pitted De Niro against Pacino at exactly the right moment in both of their careers. They’re old enough to embody the weary gravitas the movie calls for, but still young enough to bring the thunder. Could’ve only been made in 1995.

His amused, puckish “okay” in this scene is so astonishing. He’s able to simultaneously get across the body language of a little boy and the insouciance of a seasoned killer. And somehow it’s credible, it all coheres. Not so much as a hairline fracture in it. A top 5 performance.
Perkins is so far beyond good in PSYCHO and I don’t think we give him nearly enough credit

The thing that’s always struck me about the Madagascar movies is their astronomical ugliness. They’re completely appalling to behold. The character models are so ugly as to appear actually unfinished. Looking at the lion’s disgusting rectangular fingers makes me violently ill.
