Wow. 50 years later, India to finally make it to the OIC as guest of honour. Long way from the Rabat fiasco. Important to remember India was present at the incipient stages f the organisation in 1969:
India to be guest of honour at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation for the first time, Sushma Swaraj to address inaugural plenary on March 1. Bangladesh and Turkey had proposed India being granted observer status.

As I initially embarked on a PhD in comparative politics, comparing the processes leading to dissidence & waves of linguistic reorganisation in post-independence India (project abandoned to move to an IR thesis), Paul Brass' work was a great inspiration. RIP
RIP Paul Brass! Your “Theft of an Idol” and “Language, Religion and Politics in North India” were seminal, shaping scholarship and leaving a huge impact.
