Hey folks!
I'm looking for some open source projects for someone breaking into the industry to contribute to. They're currently interested in Node.js and React. What's everyone contributing to these days?

Next week is my last week

@thepracticaldev
. It's been an amazing 2.25 years working with awesome people.
Thanks, PBJ and the whole crew! New things are on the horizon. Stay tuned!
Personal achievement unlocked. I'm down 30lbs of fat. Feeling pretty good tbh. I think a good weight for me to land at is 190lbs.
It was also a lot easier snowboarding last week 30lbs lighter lol.
HIIT and swimming have been great but, sleep and diet has been key.

Check out
@wesbos
’ awesome free CSS grid course that was sponsored by Mozilla, , if you’re looking to level up on CSS grid. Getting griddy wit it.

Love open source and community?
@ThePracticalDev

Thanks again
@jh3yy
for suggesting getting a desk whiteboard for in front of my keyboard. I’ve been finding it super useful for quick notes or ideas. 🔥
Down 35lbs of fat (228.4 to 193.4lbs), no sugar since January 17th, but today is break time. I deserve this beer.
Gonna keep at it. Let’s see if I can make a 185 weigh in for RenderATL lol. Let’s go!
I whipped up a browser extension to promote creating more accessible Tweets. It does one thing for now, but it's a good easy win. When you Tweet, if you have not added descriptions to images, it will prompt you before you Tweet.
Take it for a spin

Lots of my amazing coworkers from Netlify were let go today.
If you’re looking for some awesome people to join your org, drop a comment, ideally with your careers page.
Just want to give a big shoutout to my team. I just wrapped up one month
@saucedopen
and couldn’t be happier to be working with some awesome humans.
Stay saucy peeps!
This is not a joke. This was my desk temporarily when I first started working remotely and this is my setup now.
Queue the how it started, how it's going meme.

There's a third one. People who type forever and you watch the three dots bounce up and down thinking they're writing the next big novel, and then the message is either an emoji or a short one-liner. 📝
Your friendly reminder, that on the main page of a repository on GitHub, press the letter "t" to get a file explorer to open. From there, you can refine the search by typing in a part of a filename and then be able to navigate to that file if you click on it.

I still love this addition
@vaidehijoshi
added to
@forem
's PR template. For the tests section,you need to add a reason why you didn't add tests. It's a small change, but it's a great one for when folks might think about skipping tests.Also,the I need help with tests is great too.
Holy forking shirtballs! I don't normally spit out numbers, but I hit 70K followers on
@ThePracticalDev
!
Thanks to everyone who's given a follow.
No Soundcloud, but I do have a new blog post out! Maybe you'll find it helpful.
I'll be in Atlanta for
@RenderATL
tomorrow late afternoon. I'm going to be heading to the Thinking Across the Framework Barrier talk at the North Atlanta JavaScript and Web Dev meetup, but if folks are up to stuff in the evening later on, hit me up.
@burgessdryan
Don't try to learn too many things at once. Focus on one or two things. I used to be the master of Hello World in a lot of languages when I started out lol.
Although Twitter is a dumpster fire sometimes (a lot?), I'm super grateful for all the amazing people I've been able to connect with thanks to the bird app.
Also, I made homemade waffles this morning and they were kick-ass. And yes, they had Canadian maple syrup all over them.🍁
Today is my first day
@saucedopen
!
I’m looking forward to working with all the awesome folks in the org and to continue working in open source!
Stay saucy friends!
Lift weights. You don’t need to become Schwarzenegger or CBUM, but lift in some capacity as your bone density starts to deteriorate year by year. I’ve been lifting for 32 years, and it’s been one of the best things I’ve done for my body. Also, sleep. I’m still working on that. 😅
I originally posted this at the end of 2021 but have updated it a bit since then, so just dropping it again, Maybe you'll find something in there helpful.
