The health of Scotland's inshore fisheries has been neglected for years. We need more localised, accountable governance to fix that. Reversing historical declines of fish would benefit coastal communities around Scotland.
For years the Scottish Government has failed to implement vital reforms for our inshore fisheries. Now is a chance to have your say! Government is asking what is working in their management of inshore fisheries, and what is not. Respond to the consultation to ensure governance is fair and reflects the public interest here > Via @STVNews

In 2017, the Scottish Government - resulting from leadership by the former Environment Minister Roseanna Cunningham - recognised a need to protect parts of our inshore seabed from scallop dredging. Proposals have been on the table for 7 YEARS but no action. Meanwhile...👇
Scallop divers in Orkney are calling for urgent support, reports @The_Orcadian, as inshore dredging threatens to legally damage their fishing grounds. When are our politicians and government going to take action to support lower-impact fishing businesses?

@croft1a @ASPaton @SP_RuralAffairs Yup it attempts to, but fails. Strategic Environmental Assessments and Business Regulatory Impact Assessments in theory should be assessing the +ve and -ve impacts, and putting some sort of value on them. But methodologies for these assessments are flawed and extremely data poor.
