@razibkhan @charlesmurray Himmler was particularly keen on the Indian Aryan connection. He in turn was inspired by an English dude called Houston Stuart Chamberlain. The swastika is obviously taken from Sanskrit culture. Perhaps it’s more correct to talk of red hair in terms of central Asian origin ?

@thomas_iver @razibkhan @charlesmurray I’m just repeating what Herodotus wrote. So go back c.800 years to the fall of Troy ~ every Greek or Greek god described in the Iliad has red, gold or red/gold hair apart from the wiliest, Odysseus, whose hair is red/brown. One Trojan, Hector, is described. His hair was black.

@thomas_iver @razibkhan @charlesmurray Which sources are those ? Herodotus talks of the Budinians north of the Black Sea as a people all with red hair. I’ve been told Chinese ancient histories speak of the Tocharians as a red haired people west of China.
