This was the only stance where I disagreed with Rupert, so I’m glad to see this. Even if you agree in principle with assisted dying, it can’t be left in the hands of amoral utilitarians whose only genuine conviction is a rabid hatred of British people.
I voted in favour of assisted dying at the first stage in order to give MPs a chance to debate the detail, in the hope that a balanced approach could result in responsible legislation. That is NOT happening. Unless this significantly changes, I will vote against the bill.
