@EHPlimsoll1 @growing_daniel @ArmandDoma This isn’t an opinion I picked up from following grifters. It’s from using my fucking eyeballs. No serious person in public or private sectors thinks the CPI overstates inflation.

It isn’t a theory. You can literally look at cpi and price changes of goods/services and see the discrepancies. Plenty of economists acknowledge this. The required manipulation of CPI calculations isn’t because accurately determining it is difficult..it’s because the accurate numbers would bankrupt social security and other public/private programs with large swaths of CPI adjusted liabilities.
