for me it has the feeling of “delaying the inevitable”, deep down I know the truth but every time the thought comes up I dodge the bullet by looking the other way. or I go to the other extreme and spiral in fear, shame etc. meanwhile there’s a wise whisper that says “I’m here when you’re ready”.

@mattgoldenberg also, crying is sometimes a substitute for the expression of anger when the natural flow of anger is blocked.
