12 year old Emer McKee, Willowfield Harriers (Blue and White stripes), ran 16.40 for 5km today (after falling) in Lisburn. This appears to be a WORLD RECORD for a 12 year old (unconfirmed). The previous best was 17.16.8 by Annabella Veltcheva (USA) in Clermont, Florida.

Sometimes the most heroic performances happen quietly in the remotest parts of the country. North Belfast's Sandy Carr completed the Kerry Way Ultra, 200km (120 miles) race in 37 HOURS. The race started at Friday 6am and finished just after 7.45pm this evening. WHAT A RUN.

Absolute disaster this morning. The Irish National 10km road championships a mile short !! . Time for federations to get a grip on their national championships - outsourcing to commercial 3rd party, profit making organisations is not cutting it for runners.
Apparently the national 10k (Great Ireland Run) is the National 8km. The runners were sent the wrong way and now there will be no national prizes given out.
