Never underestimate a cycle breaker. Not only did they face years of generational trauma, but they stood in the face of that trauma and said “This ends with me.” This is brave. This is powerful. This comes at a significant cost. Never underestimate a cycle breaker.

Never tell a person how to feel about traumatic memories.

It’s so damn confusing to experience trauma from someone who says they love you. It makes love feel like a threat & makes isolation appear to be the best option to avoid further pain. Healing begins when you name: 1). That was abuse not love. 2). You are only meant for love.

Have you ever tried to confront someone and every sentence you say they flip back on you or change the subject? They’re not going to hear you. They do that because your level of honesty threatens their control. Their focus is how to regain control, not to help you feel heard.

It is normal to have a strong reaction to someone’s denial. You’re not responsible to name what they won’t see, yet they’ll continually attempt to push you to normalize their delusion. That’s not yours to carry and if you try-you’ll eventually be back in survival mode.

Breaking the cycle is choosing not to hurt others the way others have hurt you.
