To continue, this accelerated warming is the scariest thing worldwide. 1.5 deg C is effectively already passe and we will likely reach 2 deg C in just 15 years (around 2040), at the current rate of warming. Will India's water, agriculture and people be able to cope? I don't know
Trump’s promised actions to reverse many US policies to combat climate change will not only cause damage to the US and its people but will also weaken international climate efforts, risking environmental damage and significant climatic consequences.

At the end of this article, I wrote that we have reached 1.4 deg C of warming. Not 1.2 or 1.3 as is being widely reported. Those numbers are already dated, because of the rapid acceleration in warming that has taken place in recent years.

I heard, courtesy a podcast by @adam_tooze - and after I wrote this article on US energy trajectories and Trump - that the US produced one-and-a-half times as much oil last year as Saudi Arabia. Staggering.

@DougHenwood Thank you for 'Behind the News'.
Just heard an author on my favourite podcast - Doug Henwood's Behind the News - on how companies avoid $ 500 billion in corporate taxes and rich folks 200 billion by stashing money in offshore tax havens. There's a lot of money around if you want to fund loss and damage.
