Leeds spent 16 years outside

lurching from one crisis to another and even losing at home to Tranmere in Division 3 but they had a route back and have made the most of it. That’s what it’s all about. Take that away and it’s done

Our dad Richard Adderley passed away tonight after a long illness. Gave us the best up-bringing you could wish for which included supporting Tranmere. Saw his first game in 1958, here he is at his last v Dagenham in 2017. A great man

Just asked Gareth Southgate about the teamsheet photo ‘No drama, but any time we give the opposition the opportunity to see our team it’s a disadvantage. Our media have to decide if they want to help the team or not’

League Football has been here since 1888. Had a power-grab happened in the late 90s Man City wouldn’t have been involved as they were in the third division. Bolton once mused about PL2 with no relegation. They are now in Division 4. Individual interests should never run the game
If Everton had drawn anyone outside the Premier League away there wouldn’t have been VAR in use so Calvert-Lewin wouldn’t have been sent off. The partial use of technology in this way doesn’t seem fair to anyone
The last time I looked Cray Valley Paper Mills weren’t in the expanded UEFA competitions so why should they and other smaller clubs be denied an FA Cup replay and everything which comes from that ?
To be clear, I was commentating on Chelsea v Man U for the FA’s World Feed coverage. I wasn’t booked by the BBC and I won’t be paid by them. In all honesty, I would rather they hadn’t taken it but they were entitled to. I entirely support the stance of other colleagues from MOTD
Luton and Coventry were both promoted from League 2 five years ago. One of them will be in the Premier League next season. The pyramid must be protected at all costs. Football would be incredibly dull without a bit of light and shade….

Had the Championship been decided on Points Per Game during lockdown Charlton would have gone down. Last week Hull would have gone down on PPG, this week it’s Huddersfield. It’s a bit of a flimsy way to change a club’s history isn’t it ?
The
@SkyBetChamp
bottom three during Lockdown who would have all gone down if Points Per Game was applied Charlton, Luton and Barnsley have a combined record of W5 D4 L0 since the resumption and all three may now survive. On this evidence using PPG to relegate clubs is a nonsense
Can’t be many occasions that keepers from the same club feature against each other in a major championship knockout game but it will be Leicester v Leicester, Schmeichel v Ward on Saturday

Another great afternoon playing the ITV All-Stars. 10-6 (McCoist 6) this time. Once again Keane, Neville and Co were superb on and off the field

In Nov 2012 Hughes was sacked by QPR after losing to Nigel Adkins’ Southampton in the Premier League. 11 years later he’s gone at Bradford after losing to Adkins’ Tranmere at the foot of League 2….

Tyrone Mings made his England debut in Sofia in 2019 when England’s black players endured sustained, orchestrated racist abuse. He’s entitled to every word of what he’s said….
Two teams who voted not to finish the season meet at Wembley tonight to replace a team which wanted to finish the season but wasn’t given the opportunity. Couldn’t make it up....
Warnock is spot on in everything he says. No other country has the sustained interest the EFL has. No one would watch B teams and the competition would slowly die. Some Premier League clubs treat young players like stars before they’ve done anything. That’s the issue to sort out
"I'm not having that at all!" 😡
"League One and Two are the greatest leagues in the world after the Championship." 👏
"We don't want reserves from Manchester City or anybody else." ❌

's Neil Warnock blasts the idea of having Premier League B teams in the EFL.
Just spoken to my mum who’s 73. All of the ‘young people’ in her street keep knocking on the door to check she’s ok for food. Brilliant people. Thank you
That’s the end of a long, tiring trip with some moments none of us expected. Those of us in the media get paid to be here. The owners of these flags pay fortunes and make sacrifices to follow their team. At least this time there was something to be proud of....

Massive thank you to everyone connected with Tranmere from Mr and Mrs Palios to every fan who’s been supportive the last few weeks. My dad left the church yesterday to the theme from The Rockford Files which bemused most of the congregation but meant plenty to the family !

The Championship table when Birmingham sacked John Eustace. Today he and Blackburn survived at Birmingham’s expense. Their owners will have to realign in third division…..
Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept.
We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times.
NFFC will now consider its options.
Hadn’t been to Ewood Park in a while but very impressed with Blackburn - a team with plenty of academy players who work incredibly hard and Dolan is one of the best young players in the EFL. Jon Dahl Tomasson looks a good fit there.
January 2018 Tranmere lost 5-2 at Fylde in non-league. January 2020 Manchester United are coming in the FA Cup. People who stuck with it then deserve this now

Here’s some extremely indulgent personal news. Haven’t been this weight for 30 years when I was playing rugby league and only eating beans during my first year at university. I didn’t think I’d lose a stone in a year so this is a pleasant surprise….

Tony Hadley was at Chesham v Swindon Supermarine today - did listeners spot any other New Romantics at Southern Premier League games this weekend ?
In the Premier League this would have resulted in screams, technical areas emptying waving imaginary red cards and possibly a VAR check. Here, Ref unmoved, players get up and the game goes on....
My dad Richard would have been 80 today. He’s pictured at his final

Jason Koumas played for a few years in the Premier League and is a club legend for those of us pre-internet at both Tranmere and WBA. I hope his son becomes a Welsh great but at the highest level he’s basically had a good week

The Tottenham game is a deserved reward for those Tranmere fans who went home and away for three years in non-league. It’s a bleak place when you’re a big club getting hammered at Woking or losing in added time at Maidenhead but they still came back for more

Whether it’s a team from a town you’ve never heard of winning a few grand with an upset in the qualifying rounds, a non-league team embarrassing a league club or the two biggest clubs slugging it out the FA Cup matters and those set on financial self-preservation should get lost

The
@PapaJohnsTrophy
has been messed about with but the final is always a good day out for fans - Wembley without any playoff tension. Moving both finals to pre-season when people may be able to go would benefit the fans, the clubs,
@EFL
and showcase the event - make it happen !
Tranmere play 44 games and get relegated the loss of status, income and confidence is deserved. But they could go down with ten games to play thanks to a decision the EFL passed onto the clubs to make. If it’s ok to fight for promotion it’s unfair if you can’t fight relegation
Both Grimsby and Southend were happy to have relegation settled with PPG in an incomplete season but don’t want it when neither have been good enough over 46 games....
Sad Nicola Palios has got off social media. Owners are always going to get stick but some of the stuff aimed at her has been a disgrace and it’s poor that someone who tries to interact with fans stops due to abuse often from people not brave enough to show their faces
#trfc

Tranmere v Newport must be unique as a Wembley final these days which hasn’t involved any sniping between the fans on social media. Almost old fashioned to see two groups of fans just bothered about getting behind their own team
#TRFC
#ncfc
It doesn’t matter who they play for, players who’ve broken COVID rules at a time when fans couldn’t see family over Christmas need to be told they are jeopardising people and the sport they play. Time to get their heads out of their privileged behinds and live in the real world
This is a ludicrous situation. Chester’s offices are in England and the safety certificate to allow matches to happen is issued by English authorities. Welsh government should have better things to do
The folly of Points Per Game highlighted perfectly by what happened at the bottom of the Championship yesterday. Charlton would have gone down under PPG but a 1-0 win at Hull takes them out of the bottom three and puts Hull there ! It’s a ludicrous way to change a club’s history
Tend to give Tranmere stuff on social media a miss after a defeat these days. Too many people seemingly convinced promotion is now a given every season. Finishing where we are now would be fine. It was always going to take time to adjust. Just calm down

Harry Kane’s end to the tournament shouldn’t disguise the fact he scored a last minute winner in the first game and penalties under massive pressure against Colombia. Not a cheap Golden Boot
Before Brexit, the owner of Cheshire Cheese Co was a planning to invest £1 million and dozens of jobs in a Northern town. Because of Boris’ Brexit deal, he’ll be investing in France instead. So much for a ‘Brexit boom’
Gutsy performance from

Said goodbye to Dad today. Really nice funeral. Also discovered today his father worked on the ship which took the Bodyline team to Australia. Orient Line Cruises produced their own handbook
Rashford missed a penalty but has also helped to feed more under-privileged kids. He’s actually made a difference and if it continues to annoy light-weight right-wingers then he deserves all of our support
The FA Cup is the one thing which links tiny clubs with the best. Replays are part of it's fabric. Decisions shouldn't be taken to benefit a tiny percentage of those taking part. If they want more time off don't be so greedy and take less money to have more say in the schedule
Last night should help put an end to ‘Accrington Stanley - who are they ?’ which stopped being funny in about 1992. A club which doesn’t waste a penny and tries to play expansive football deserve more credit than that.
This is how I will remember Sven. Full of life in the garden of his beautiful, beloved house in Sunne, Sweden, kicking a ball for his happy dog Ame. Privileged to have visited him there. RIP Sven.
