I think people are missing the part about it being an emergency.
This procedure is taught to be done in a minute. 60 seconds. This isn't ideal. Baby and mom are at risk. This is a rough, violent procedure with a KNOWN risk of injury to the neonate.

My grandmother had this last for 8 months after covid. She lost a lot of weight. She hated the taste of everything. She would eat about a cup of food a day.
She is still struggling with it but her appetite and taste gave grown but she does not like any real spice or flavor now.
