The picture is blurry because I’m shaking and can’t quite believe it, but Green Envelope just hit 100k in donations. Truly blown away by the generosity of everyone who has donated and shared this little fund that could.

Been hesitant to post this because I’m very protective of people’s personal info, but at least 10% of Green Envelope recipients have been from Tyler Perry’s shows. He has the ability to support the strikes and just hasn’t.
Tyler Perry says "it’s really important to know when we’ve won" amid the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
"This is only a three-year deal. In two and a half years we’ll be re-negotiating again. So we have to know when we have won for now. That’s the thing. For now! If I had ran my
This still feels like a dream, but I signed my paperwork and had my first official day. I’m a staff writer. Hard to fully express my gratitude to my showrunners, the incredible staff, and all the people who helped me get to this place, but oh man, I’m so beyond grateful 💗
A lot of us are in the stressful position of looking for work post-strike, & so am I... I'm a single mom with a kid to feed & available to staff. 16+ years as a WA, SC, and staff writer. I've written 5 eps ranging from hourlong (Foundation, Fire Country) to animation (TigNSeek)
It feels strange to be sharing good news right now, but I just signed a contract to co-write an episode with a writer who inspired me to become a TV writer. This year has been unpredictable in all of the ways, but I'm especially grateful for this!
Here’s some of what I experienced working on an Apple+ show (a small 🧵)
#badappple
First, when I was hired as an SC, despite my experience and my previous rate, they refused to pay me above scale ($19/hr), so I was making less than what it cost to send my son to daycare
BREAKING: Picketing began at Kaiser Permanente hospitals as some 75,000 health care workers go on strike in Virginia, California and three other states over wages and staffing shortages, marking the latest major labor unrest in the United States.
Feeling the spirit of my grandpa Al, who managed Jerry’s deli during its hey day and was given this shirt during the ‘88 strike for standing in solidarity with the writers. Honored to wear this shirt and carry on the legacy.

@WGAWest
For the first time in awhile, we have a low fund alert! The WGA strike may be over, but SAG is still on the picket line and there’s a lot of people hurting. If you’re able to give, now’s the time! As always, thank you so much for your generosity and support 💪❤️💌
I am very emotional at Green Envelope hitting $175k in donations tonight and getting a standing ovation at the captains mtg… something I will truly remember forever. My heart is very full. This is a hard fight but we are in this together, and we will win! ♥️💪♥️
Not only did that deadline article enrage membership, it also inspired a lot of people to donate tonight. If you’re in need, please apply. If you’re able to give, please consider donating to green envelope or another fund (
@tusctogether
@alifeinthearts
) We will get through this!
Green Envelope Grocery Aid hit 40k in donations today, which is a huge and overwhelming milestone on our one-month anniversary. 376 people have received $100 grocery grants. HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated, supported, and applied.

I've been the 17-year-old girl who was wined and dined by an older man who was "just looking out for me." And then he roofied and raped me, and I was too naive and embarrassed to say anything for YEARS. So yeah... a 17-year-old is not a "woman" and I'm really fucking angry.
Time to celebrate a writing win: two years ago I had a dream to write a biopic. I finally wrote the script, the producers signed off, and the script is going to the person this weekend. No matter what happens now, I’m sitting in this surreal and wonderful feeling 💗
I’m so excited to announce that through the generosity of many writers, we were not only able to send grocery money to ALL the pre-WGA writers who reached out, but we’re able to keep the “green envelope grocery giveaway” going!
I don’t know what to do with myself right now. I started the strike feeling so scared, but with full faith in our union and leadership. Over these past 5 months I became a strike captain, started green envelope, met incredible people, and never lost faith.
Just sent the 2000th Green Envelope grocery grant, and I'm feeling very emotional. This has been a true labor of love that came from a genuine place of wanting to help people feel less lonely and scared during a very scary time. I'm so grateful ❤️💪❤️
This community is amazing!! In 2 days, we've raised another 5k (lol AMPTP, that article totally backfired) and have now sent funds to 410 people, bringing the grand total we've raised to 45k! Wow, just wow.

I was feeling down because for the first time, we had to put support staffers on the waitlist to receive funds. Then we started receiving donations from an incredible group of showrunners, and now the fund is higher than it's been in weeks! So grateful and blown away (always)

I was doing SO much work and being treated as a writer for $21/hr. Eventually I got a co-write. My first freelance! Yay! I turned in that draft Sept 2020. My deal memo was signed Aug 2020. I didn’t get paid until April 2021.
On the eve of week 12 of the strike, just remember that despite fear, we are powerful. I was scared to be a captain, and it’s become one of the most rewarding experiences. I was scared to start the fund, and we’ve now sent aid to 555 people! We’ve got this 💗
Another busy day for Green Envelope. We have now sent $100 grocery grants to 453 people (WGA, SAG, IATSE, pre-wga, liuna, teamsters) and have raised over $50k! Incredible!!! Thanks to everyone who has donated and applied.

Writer friends! Just a reminder that the jobs you may or may not get do not determine your worth or talent. There’s many factors at play, most of which are out of our control. Keep writing. And don’t let anyone dull your shine.
I'm in tears, because I just sent the last (for now) Green Envelope grant. Here's the final totals:
2585 grants sent!
113 mini-grants sent w/
@wgastrikeunite
$264,150.00 total raised
I am so proud of what we did, and grateful to everyone who was a part of it. More to come...
…for the lower WA rate ($18/hr). That’s right! They wanted me to double my workload for less money. During a pandemic! I refused. My showrunner backed me up and they relented and paid me $2 above scale for both jobs for 8 weeks.
I have my interview with the WB writers program today. Very excited and nervous, but also extremely proud that I got to this point. I've been working hard in this business for over a decade and moments like this remind me why.
We fucking did it!!!! Thank you to our fearless neg com and board and every one who has fought so fucking hard for the past 5 months. I’m all the emotions right now!
Also just a reminder that a group of showrunners donated almost $30k for Green Envelope in one day (And then brought gift cards for people in need during the showrunner picket, and then raised almost $500k for the ECF), so...
Just a reminder we had over 300 showrunners at Fox last week reaffirming their commitment to be out here as long as it takes to protect the future of our profession. That’s most of us… by a large margin.
That’s the story. Don’t let grandstanding reporters change the narrative.
If you’re a pre-WGA or WGA writer who needs grocery assistance, please DM me and we’ll sponsor $100 worth of groceries. And if you’re a writer who is willing to donate, DM me for details. These are tough times but we will get through it together! 💪♥️💪
At the time, I was still married so I could afford it. Then came 2020… divorce and pandemic. Not a great combo. Speaking of combo… when the show got shutdown for covid, Apple commissioned a mini-room to get a start on S2. They asked if I could be the combined role of SC/WA…
I'm so moved: in the past 2 days we've been able to provide direct aid to over 40 writers (union and non-union) and have enough funding to provide grocery assistance for at least 40 more! Thank you to everyone who has shared, donated, and reached out.

I feel like script coordinators should send a starred draft of all the typos they did catch, so when they inevitably get yelled at for the 2 typos they didn’t catch, everyone can chill out 🤷♀️

I was born on Labor Day, which I always associated with being lucky I got a holiday weekend to celebrate my bday.
This Labor Day hits different. I’m so grateful and proud to be a WGA and IATSE 871 member, and for everyone who has helped Green Envelope grow.
Just found out my son and I will lose our health insurance in Sept because I’m 3k shy of earning enough coverage. So if someone can hire me to write something soon, that’d be very cool 💗
We had our biggest day today thanks to the INCREDIBLE generosity of an amazing group of showrunners and raised close to 25k just today!! I'm truly speechless and filled with so much gratitude.
I'll be spending the day tomorrow sending funds. Love and solidarity to all!

Just throwing this out there: I am available for staffing. I have a season of being a staff writer on a broadcast drama under my belt, as well as 15 (!) years experience as a SC/WA/SA + 3 co-writes for freelance scripts. I also have a small child to feed who needs health benefits
I've reached my limit for today (both by my bank's standards and my eyes, haha), but we've now sent $100 grocery grants to 515 people and have $1500 left. There's 200 applications I need to go through, and 40 people waitlisted, so if you're able to donate, now's the time!

Very important thread. Exploitation of support staff needs to stop, especially with the broken pipeline. If you’re an assistant writing scenes for almost every episode and don’t get a freelance or staffing opportunity, you’re being taken advantage of.
Dear WGA TV writers in writers rooms with a broken Assistant-to-Staff pipeline: this is going to be hard to hear because our best intentions have have fucked over an entire generation of writers trying to break in, there is a behavior that needs to be stopped.
A serious thread:

1 in 80 people in LA have Covid right now. 1 in 80! That means if you have the privilege to stay home, DO IT. And please generously tip anyone that doesn’t get that privilege.
Just voted YES on the strike authorization vote. I’m a single mom with an anxiety disorder who is living on a script coordinator salary. I’m terrified of a strike, but I also know we deserve so much more. Please vote!

Green Envelope Grocery Aid, the mutual aid strike fund that started as a complete grassroots effort to provide hope and relief for those affected by the strikes has somehow raised 250k. A quarter of a million dollars fueled by kindness. I am so blown away and grateful.

Some exciting work news! Just to give some scope, this is the 20th (!) series I've worked on, and the first time in my 16-year career that a show I've worked on has received a full series order (lots of 10 and 13 ep orders, lots of "let's hope ratings improve" and "one and done"
I got a couple of much needed green envelopes today and I want to give back during these trying times. If you are pre-WGA / support staff and struggling, I’ll help pay for groceries. DM me and I’m going to raffle off a name tomorrow. 💪♥️💪

"Once an episode goes into prep, that's when all the emails really start..." is a sentence I just said aloud to my dog, as if I'm training him to be a script coordinator/TV writer.
Since we’re all in need of distraction, here’s a story from today about Green Envelope’s impact. Every picket line was flooded and Radford was no exception. I saw the first recipient / muse of the fund, the first donor, an early recipient, and talked to several other supporters

All the “what have I accomplished in the past decade” tweets are truly fantastic, but last night alone I fed, bathed, and put my child to bed solo, edited and distro’d scripts, wrote a pitch doc, prepped for another mtg, did laundry and meal prepped so I barely remember last week

Here’s the thing about referring to Trump acting like a toddler tonight: my actual toddler asked me to turn off the debate (which I was watching on my phone with headphones on), because “that man is being too loud.”
