@seanzjay @ATRightMovies I think it absolutely elevates this scene. You’re initially waiting for a cut which never comes, ratcheting up the tension. The viewer is trapped right in the middle of the action with each beat of the scene revealed in a slow, dread-inducing pans.

Such a huge engineering effort seems to have gone into the new App Intents framework - I wonder if it might play a key role in the rumoured realityOS? Floating ‘snippet’ overlays that are SwiftUI views, conversational Siri UI & lightweight, widget-like mini app extensions etc

@mattuthompson It seems to me that an important part of learning critical thinking skills is being able to objectively examine evidence - in this case understanding why something seemingly innocuous to one group can be grossly offensive to another and why the material has been created & so on.

‘appStoreOverlay’ is a neat addition to SwiftUI on iOS14. Here, if you try to view a JSON variable from @ToolboxProApp in Jayson and you don’t have the app installed yet, it shows a nifty little window to immediately download it 👌🏻

Some great new String parsing features have been added to SoulverCore. Sort of like a simplified RegEx in Swift with features like conversions. Easily pull out URLs, airport codes, places, timespans etc from a string. Nice work @soulver !

Nice that we can now add keywords to actions in the library. Should make it easier for users to find the right actions quickly even if they type a different search term. You can also add custom categories so that when the user taps on an app, all actions are grouped accordingly.

@natfriedman God the replies to this are so negative. It’s an incredible technology in its infancy. This is the worst it’ll ever be and it’ll totally change how many engineers work in a few years time. Older engineers will grind against it but new engineers will fly with it.

It’s really annoying how Apple hasn’t updated the Reminders API as they’ve added new features. Tags, When Messaging, URL, images, flagging, subtasks, smart lists, shared lists, assigned reminders and list icons are all inaccessible to devs 👎🏻

Really love the SF Symbols app but the search could be greatly improved. Searching for ‘education’, ‘school’, ‘college’, ‘student’ or ‘hat’ should show the ‘graduationcap’ symbol, for example. At the moment you need to know the exact symbol name.

With @viticci ’s recent ‘Shortcuts Injector’ discoveries, I’ve found it’s also possible to run a Shortcut which strips all of the logging actions out of your shortcut when you’re done developing it 🤯 cc @mattcassinelli

Doing some experimenting & I think there are some interesting uses for Focus Filters + Shortcuts 👨🏻‍🔬 In this example you can enter text when setting up a Focus then use a Shortcuts action to retrieve it from whichever one is active 👀 What else would you want from Focus Modes?

This is awesome. The new Shortcuts ‘snippets’ act like medium/large widgets so you can embed multiple links in them. They don’t disappear when you tap a link & they don’t lock up the screen. Just wish you could minimise them like a rich notification!

@andrewchen It’s pricey but doing a 🚁 tour over lava fields, watching the sun rise over frozen waterfalls, landing on an active volcano and having our pilot dust the snow off of mountain tops was one of the best experiences of my life! Black diamond beach is beautiful too.

Mac @ToolboxProApp beta rejected because it crashed for the reviewer on launch. I’ve run the same build on a clean install with latest dev beta, iCloud on/off, permissions as restricted as possible etc and can’t yet replicate. Maddening! 🙍🏻‍♂️

The first iOS14 developer beta is *incredibly* polished. No resprings, app crashes or major unexpected behaviour from the default apps after a week of heavy usage. Whatever new systems were introduced after the problems they had with iOS13 have been really effective👌🏻

Had to start unfollowing people who regularly use the Spaces feature just so it stops showing up at the top of the UI 😕 Insane that it’s such an intrusive element on the screen with no way to dismiss.

I haven’t used windows for years but this looks interesting - like a cross between Automator & Shortcuts. I particularly like being able to see variables and their values in the right-hand window, much like Apple’s Playgrounds app
